ALLEN G. HOWELL

Allen G. Howell, age 62, of Luray, MO, died unexpectedly on Monday, August 7, 2006, at his home.

He was born September 9, 1943 at Fort Madison, IA, a son of William Floyd and Grace Droege Howell.

He and Letha M. Thompson were united in marriage on April 18, 1975 at the Appanoose

parsonage in Niota, IL.

Survivors include his wife, Letha, of Luray, MO; one son, Casey Howell and his wife, Karen, of Roberts, WI; a step-son, Dennis Thompson of Luray, MO; a daughter, Molly Lapsley and her husband, John, of Kahoka, MO; six grandchildren: Shelby, Syndey, Sam and Stephanie Howell, Hope Thompson, and Hanna Lapsley; two brothers, Don Howell of Luray, MO, and Wayne Howell and his wife, Barbara, of Kahoka, MO; a brother-in-law, Lee Thompson and his wife, Betty, of Niota, IL; sister-in-law, Jeri Ulich of Marcelline, MO; an uncle, Charles Droege of Georgia; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Wendell and Faye Thompson; and, brother-in-law, Lynn Thompson.

Allen graduated from Kahoka High School in 1961. He retired in 2004 after 35 years as an employee of the Santa Fe Railroad. He was a social member of Ayer-Boatman Post # 4342 of the V.F. W., a charter member and officer of the Clark Co. Moose, and also a member of the Missouri Longriders. He loved his horses and loved to fry fish and play any kind of cards. He also loved spending time with friends and family and enjoyed neighbors dropping by to visit. His children and grandchildren were his greatest joy.

Funeral services are Friday, August 11, 2006, at 2:30 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with Pastor Shawn McAfee. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery.

Friends can call after 9 a.m. Thursday at Wilson Funeral Home. A public Moose service will be 6 p.m. Thursday followed by family receiving friends until 8 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the Bethlehem Cemetery or to the donor's choice.
