Barbara L. Price
Barbara L. Price, age 72, of Kahoka, MO, passed away Saturday, July 10, 2004 in Keokuk Area Hospital, Keokuk, IA.
She was born February 29, 1932 in rural Clark County, Missouri, a daughter of Raymond A. and Ethel Mae Eagon Dunn.
She married Barton O. Butler, Jr. on January 21, 1949 at Kahoka, MO and to this union were born seven children. She later married John J. Price on July 6, 1984 at Kahoka, MO. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include her mother, Ethel Mae Dunn, of Kahoka, MO; long-time companion, Void T. Baker of Kahoka, MO; one son, Barton R. "Bobby" Butler of Peoria, IL; six daughters, Brenda K. Bemis of Des Moines, IA, Kathy F. Wollam and her husband, Richard Myers, of Kahoka, MO, Bonnie L. Dieterich and her husband, Gerald, of Kahoka, MO; Terry A. Gesel of Manchester, NH, Jennifer J. Blum and her husband, Van, of Kahoka, MO, and, Jane N. Porter and her husband, Douglas, of Alexandria, MO; eighteen grandchildren: Knute and Rashawn Bemis, Dana Price, Angela Johnston, Cary Weishaar, Clifford Wollam, Jr., Grayson Dieterich, Ginger Dieterich, Therese Tansey, Christina Reynolds, Veronica Rawnsley, Elizabeth Gesel, Jerrod and Heath Blum, Merenda Butler, Zachary and Casey Carroll, and, Christopher Dillavou; 21 great-grandchildren; one brother, Jim Dunn and his wife, Marion, of Grand Prairie, TX; one sister, Rebecca McGraw and her husband, Joe, of Scottsdale, AZ; two aunts, Alice Pitford of Kahoka, MO, and Martha Eagon of Macon, MO; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her father; husband, John J. Price; son-in-law, Robert Bemis; and, grandson, Christopher Wollam.
During her husband's 30 years in the military,Barbara had been his support while raising her family. With seven children, she was first and foremost a housewife with time spent as a nurse's aid at the former Graham Hospital and later at the Clark Co. Nursing Home. She loved music whether dancing, singing, or playing the piano. She also loved spending time with family and collecting angels. She had been a member of the Kahoka Christian Church.
Funeral services are Wednesday, July 14, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka, with Rev. Dan Deatrick officiating. Burial will be in Kahoka Cemetery.
Friends can call after 9 a.m. on Tuesday with family receiving friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Wilson Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the Clark Co. Local Cancer Fund.
