BENNY W. BOURGEOIS

Benny W. Bourgeois, age 55, of Kahoka, MO, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 21, 2007, in the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, MO.

He was born May 25, 1952, at Keokuk, IA, a son of Wayne N. and Oneida M. Walker Bourgeois.

He and Jan Plant were married on May 23, 1996, at the Liberty Baptist Church by Brother Dwight Snead.

Survivors include his wife, Jan, of Kahoka; his parents, Wayne and Oneida Bourgeois, of Kahoka; mother-in-law, Kathryn Robinson of Wayland; a daughter, Bethany Davis and her husband, Dusty, of Kahoka; a step-son, Chris Plant and his wife, Dena, of Kahoka; a step-daughter, Marie Spence and her husband, Kraig, of Sturgeon, MO; a granddaughter, Olivia Irene Plant of Kahoka; a brother, Wendel Bourgeois and his wife, Vivian, of Kahoka; a sister, Delia Lynn Palazzo and her husband, Dennis, of Oquawka, IL; four brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law, including Dan Robinson of Wayland; an aunt, Mary Lynn Lillard of Kahoka; several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents and a brother, Ronald, in infancy.

Benny was a 1970 graduate of Clark County High School. He was a welder at Keokuk Steel Castings and a member of the union. He loved being out doors and spending time hunting and fishing and hosting fish frys. He also loved working in his shop, making items for friends and family. He loved tinkering with old John Deere tractors and was a member of the Old Thresher's at Hamilton. It had just been announced that his tractor will be the feature tractor at Old Thresher's in August, 2008, and he was extremely proud and excited. He was known for telling jokes and stories and the incredibly long time it took him to tell them.

Funeral services were held Saturday, August 25, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Kahoka with Brother Dwight Snead officiating. Burial followed in the Kahoka Cemetery.
