BERNADINE WILSON

Bernadine Wilson, age 89, of Kahoka, MO, died Friday, November 12, 2010, at the Clark Co. Nursing Home in Kahoka.

Bernadine was born April 7, 1921 in Revere, MO, a daughter of Lloyd and Lena Boise Walker.

She married Elton Merle Wilson on December 30, 1939, and he preceded her in death in 1988.

Survivors include two daughters, Judith N. Gillispie of Kahoka, MO, and Donna J. Penick and her husband, John, of Booneville, IA; five grandchildren: Lori Ann Brees and her husband, Mike, of Kahoka, MO, Paula Smeltser of Kahoka, MO, Ronald Penick and his wife, Roxane, of Brimfield, IL, Randy Penick and his wife, Elizabeth, of Kansas City, MO, and Misty Dooley and her husband, Ryan, of St. Charles, MO; 11 great grandchildren: Johnathan Penick (Ashley), Rachell and Brian Weiss, Sam Smeltser, Amanda Knouse, Jasmine, Amber, Travis, and Jack Penick, and Emily, Shane and Maggie Dooley; one brother, Bernard Walker and his wife, Mary, of Wayland, MO; one sister, Betty Hecox of Keokuk, IA; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law: Verda Werner of Omaha, NE, Nancy Walker of Alexandria, MO and Gary Whitaker of Wayland, MO; as well as a host of nieces and nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son-in-law, Dallas Gillispie; brothers: Wayne, Winston and Marvin Walker; sisters: Doris Mansfield, Zola Byrn, Janice Walker and Shirley Whitaker; also beloved brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Bernadine graduated from Wayland High School. She spent most of her married life in Indianola, IA and returned to Clark County following Elton's retirement to be near family. She and Elton loved to go camping, square dancing and listen to Grand 'Ole Opera music. They particularly enjoyed traveling to the Branson area.

She was a life-time member of the Warren Co. (Iowa) Historical Society. She loved her Lord and Savior and worshiping at the First Baptist Church in Wayland where she was a member. She had a "fun" spirit and enjoyed making people laugh. Her main love of life was her family. She was a devoted wife, beloved mother and grandmother.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 16, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with Rev. Dan Deatrick officiating. Burial was in the Revere Cemetery.

Memorials were suggested to the Clark Co. Nursing Home Activity Fund or the First Baptist Church, Wayland.
