BETTE A. WAPLES
Bette A. Waples, age 76, of Kahoka, MO, died Monday, September 18, 2006, at the Clark Co. Nursing Home in Kahoka.
She was born July 12, 1930, at Flint, MI, a daughter of Charles and Marie Miller Schock.
She married Richard A. "Shorty" Waples on November 4, 1953. He preceded her in death on December 19, 1998.
Surviving are her children, a son, Jim Waples and his wife, Debbie, of Kahoka; a daughter, Mrs. Debbie Logsdon and her husband, David, of Kahoka; a brother, Charles Schock and his wife, Gae, of Michigan; a sister, Claudette Wheeler and her husband, Bob, of Michigan; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law: Helen Lester of Texas, Vivian Waples of Caifornia and Travis Waples of Hannibal; four grandchildren: Jason Logsdon and his wife, Nickie, of Wyaconda, Brandy Montambo and her husband, Ryan, of Charlotte, NC; Charity McClure and her husband, Mike, of Kahoka, and Chelsey Waples, also of Kahoka; six great-grandchildren: Ashley and Dakota Logsdon, Andrew and Kira Montambo, and Faith and Cyrus McClure; as well as nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Schock; her mother and step-father, Marie and Ernest Wilsey; her husband, Richard "Shorty" Waples; a brother, Eugene Schock; and a step-brother, Reginald Wilsey.
Bette was employed by the telephone companies as a switchboard operator and later as a cashier. She was also a former employee of the City of Kahoka. She was of the Christian Science and the Methodist faiths. She enjoyed reading and writing stories and journaling. She and Shorty enjoyed traveling to LasVegas and Hawaii and spending time at their cabin on the Mississippi. Her family was her greatest treasure.
Funeral services are Wednesday, September 20, 2006 at 10 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with Rev. Deborah Schmidt officiating. Burial will follow in Sand Cemetery at St. Francisville.
Friends can call at Wilson Funeral Home after 2 p.m. Tuesday with family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the H. E. Sever Memorial Library or the Kahoka United Methodist Church.
