He was preceded in death by his parents; a still-born son, Clarence Allen McMann on February 7, 1974; a granddaughter, Clarissa Childress Somers; and two brothers, Laverne and Lowell McMann.
Billie was a U. S. Marine veteran. He spent fifty-five years of his life as an over the road truck driver. He worked for several trucking companies in the area and had a special relationship with Tug Boat Trucking out of Bonaparte. Billie also worked at F&S Warehouse as a driver. He retired at the age of 79.
Billie was a dedicated member of the Kahoka Lion’s Club and the Herman Blum Post # 192, American Legion. He spent countless hours making ice cream with the money made being poured back into the community providing eye glasses and items to those with needs. He also spent countless hours providing military rites to fellow veterans. He was a faithful member of Trinity Worship Center in Kahoka.
Billie loved his family. His home may of been small, but his heart was large and all were always welcome at Clara’s and Bill’s. He loved his red truck and was proud to drive it each year in the Old Settler’s parade with the American Legion.
He loved watching mud runs, especially when his sons were involved and went anytime he could. He did a lot of fishing and made his children’s first fishing poles. He loved to play cards at Gary's on the weekends. In the last few years as his health deteriorated, he loved to sit on the porch whittling and to go out "gomming" (driving) around.
