CAROL LOU PADEN

Carol Lou Paden, age 66 of West Des Moines, IA, formerly of Kahoka, MO, died Tuesday, September 7, 2004 in Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas.

She was born April 24, 1938 in Kahoka, MO, the only child of Clarence "Buck" and Ada Graham Paden.

Survivors include her mother, Ada Paden, of Kahoka, MO; a son, Mike (Janet) McLean of Bonner Springs, KS; two daughters, Kelly (John) Darter of St. Louis, MI and Shawn McLean(Keith Venables) of Leander, TX; three grandchildren, Cortney Lindsey and Zach and Jacob Darter; two great grandchildren, Sean and Marisa; also, many cousins. She also leaves behind her dog, Tutor, a special companion for the past 13 years.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Carol graduated from Kahoka High School in the class of 1956 as their unofficial social director. She graduated from Northeast Mo. State College with a degree in business administration in 1960 where she was a very active member of Alpha Signa Alpha and was also their unofficial social director. She had been employed the past 13 years with MTC Phone Systems.

Carol was raised and baptized as a member of the Methodist Church. She would like to be remembered as a loving and caring person. She had just celebrated her 20th year of sobriety on August 2, 2004 and owes a very special thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Bob Hoover who were her sponsors in AA which she continued to stay active in. It would be her wish that her life be celebrated and those around her not dwell on her death but on the life that she lived to her fullest.

A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2004 at 11 a.m. at

Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with Rev. Deborah Schmidt officiating. Cremation will follow with inurnment to be held at a later date in Kahoka Cemetery.

Friends can call after 5 p.m. on Friday with family receiving friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at

Wilson Funeral Home.
