Carolyn Ann Huffman, 87, of Kahoka, MO., passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at her home in Kahoka, MO. 

She was born January 17, 1937, at the home of her parents, the only child of Harold Allen and Violet Matilda “Tillie” Hepler Stowell in Greenfield, Adair County, Iowa.

She accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her savior as a young girl on Sunday, October 20, 1946, and followed in believers Baptism on July 2, 1947. She grew up and was educated in Greenfield, Keota and Fairfield, Iowa. Carolyn graduated from Fairfield High School in 1955 and is a graduate of the Personnel Training Division of Electronic-Radio-Television Institute in Omaha, Nebraska.

She was united in marriage to Robert Merle Huffman on December 10, 1955, at the home of her parents 1005 East Burlington, in Fairfield. She was working at the First National Bank at Fairfield and after her marriage worked at the Farmers Mutual Insurance company of Mitchell County in Osage, Iowa, then was Assistant Cashier and Bank Auditor at the Poweshiek County National Bank, a Brenton Bank in Grinnell, Iowa for 8 years until she moved to Kahoka, MO in 1971. In 1972 Brenton Banks of Iowa asked her to come back when they opened their 15th bank: Brenton Bank & Trust in Cedar Rapids and train their new employees at the request of the Brenton Corporation. After 2 months she returned to Kahoka where she worked in the office of Clark Mutual Insurance Company as office clerk, bookkeeper, underwriter and agent for 34 years and was co-owner of Huffman Insurance Agency with her husband, Robert, and son, John. She is Past-President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Missouri Association of Mutual Insurance companies and served as Vice President and Secretary of the auxiliary. She had been a member of Beta Sigma Phi While living in Grinnell.

She is survived by her children: John (Nancy) Huffman of Kahoka, MO., Debbie (David) Otte of Kahoka, MO., Cheryl (Larry) Hawkins of Glendale, AZ. 8 grandchildren; Angela Tompkins of Glendale, AZ., Melissa (Erick) Swan of Phoenix, AZ., Sara (Mike) Atherton of O’Fallon, MO; Jared (Rejeana) Otte of Adel, Iowa; Ryan (Tara) Huffman of Kansas City, MO; Kellen (Hanna Schultz) Huffman of Kansas City, MO; Leah Otte of Hannibal, MO., and Jachin (Lydia) Otte of Kahoka, MO. 20 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren., 2 sisters-in-law: Judy (Ed) Filby of Johnston, IA., and Joyce Dameron of West Branch, IA.She was preceded in death by her husband Robert on July 9, 2008, her parents, great granddaughter Alexis Copeland, 1 brother-in-law: Glen A. Huffman and 1 sister-in-law: Phyllis and her husband Wayne Martin.

 Funeral Services for Carolyn Ann Huffman will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, October 4, 2024, at the First Baptist Church in Wayland, Missouri. Pastor Dan Fox and Pastor Mike Atherton will officiate. Burial at the Evergreen Cemetery, Fairfield, Iowa. Visitation with family present will be held on Friday, October 4, 2024, from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church in Wayland, Missouri.
