CHARLES A. BUSCHLING
Charles A. Buschling, age 91, of rural Canton, MO, died Tuesday, November 7, 2006 at the Clark Co. Nursing Home in Kahoka.
He was born November 10, 1914 in Clark County, MO, a son of Fred and Rosa Shaverbush Buschling.
On January 15, 1942, he and Ann B. Koehler were united in marriage at Montrose, IA.
She preceded him in death on November 13, 2002 following 60 years of marriage.
Survivors include three sons, Richard Buschling and his wife, Susie, James Buschling and his wife, Judy, and David Buschling and his wife, Debbie, all of rural Canton, MO; a daughter-in-law, Sherry Buschling Walker of Carthage, IL; a brother, Elmer Buschling and his wife, Dorothy, of Canton, MO; a sister-in-law, Opal Buschling of Searsboro, IA; eight grandchildren: Candy Lovell and her husband, Paul, of Keokuk, IA; Jeff Buschling and his wife, Angela, Lisa Prewitt and her husband, Todd, and Gina Sonnenburg and her husband, Lance, all of rural Canton, MO, Denise Owen and her husband, Chad, of Farmington, IA, Jill Ricker and her husband, Josh, of Kansas City, MO, and Ryan Holsted and his wife, Heather, and Kayla Buschling, all of rural Canton, MO; 11 great grandchildren: Megan and Christian Lovell, Renae, Rachel and Grace Buschling, Logan and Brayton Prewitt, Chance Sonnenburg, William and Anna Owen, and Drew Holsted; as well as nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Anna; a son, Charles H. Buschling; and five brothers: Louis, Fred, John, Allen, and one in infancy.
Charlie was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving during World War II in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. He was proud to be a veteran and enjoyed telling his family about his experiences.
He was happy when he was working and had farmed all of his life in Clark County. He was also an experienced carpenter and built all of his children's homes. He was a faithful member of the Wayland United Methodist Church as long as his health permitted.
Charlie was an excellent gardener, and was especially known for his watermelon and
his strawberry patches. He also enjoyed fishing and spending time on the river. Later in years, he an Ann had enjoyed searching for and collecting antique dishes. More than anything, he loved to be with his family and spend time with his grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 10, 2006 at 10 a.m. at the Wayland United Methodist Church with Rev. Deborah Schmidt officiating. Burial with full military rites will follow in the Kahoka Cemetery.
Friends can call after 11 a.m. Thursday at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the Wayland United Methodist Church or to the Clark Co. Nursing Home Activity Fund.
