CHARLES MARSHALL SELWAY

Charles Marshall Selway, age 77, of Williamstown, MO, died at 11:05 a.m. Saturday,

January 31, 2004 in Keokuk Area Hospital, Keokuk, Iowa.

He was born on the family farm near Williamstown, MO, on March 28, 1926, a son of

Harald and Nellie Smith Selway.

He married Neva Mae English on December 26, 1953 at the home of Rev. Harry I. Cull near Williamstown and to this union was born two children, Charlene and DeWayne.

Survivors include his wife, Neva of Williamstown, MO; a daughter, Charlene Roe and her husband, John, of Brookfield, MO; a son, DeWayne Selway and his wife, Susan, of Williamstown, MO; two grandchildren, Garrett Marshall Roe of Brookfield, MO and Kylie English Selway of Williamstown,MO; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Joyce English of Hinsdale, MT, Dean and Sue English of Brookfield, MO, and, Jean and Bill Baumgartner of Chula Vista, CA; 14 nieces and nephews; several cousins; and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother; an infant grandson, David Joseph Roe; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jimmie and Myrtle McDermott English; a brother-in-law, Junior English; and a nephew, Franklin Lee English.

Charlie attended Ballard School and graduated from Kahoka High School. He was a member of the South Wyaconda Baptist Church where he served as trustee and was a member of the Ballard Cemetery Board. He was also a former member of the Ballard School Board. He served four years in the Air Force and the rest of his life was spent on the family farm doing what he loved best.

Charlie was very involved and active in his community. He was a director in the Lewis County REC since 1992, served on the Clark Co. ASC committee for 27 years, the Clark Co. Nursing Home Board for 12 years, was a MFA Oil delegate for 33 years, a 21 year member of the Clark Co. Rural Fire Dept. board, a member of the Clark County Cattlemen, a director for the NEMO Sheep Producers, an advisor to the MO Jr. Hereford Association, a member of the Clark Co. Extension Council, a 4-H beef and sheep leader, and member of the 4-H livestock committee. He enjoyed working with the young people of the neighborhood and many times reminisced about times spent with them. He was also active in Williamstown Lodge No. 370, A.F. & A.M., was a Shriner and member of the Scottish Rite. He was also a member of Kahoka Chapter No. 40, O.E.S.

Charlie was an individual who stood firm in his belief, but yet was a kind and loving person. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Funeral services for Charles Marshall Selway will be held Wednesday, February 4, 2004 at 11 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with Rev. Dan Deatrick officiating. Burial will be in Kahoka Cemetery.

Friends can call after 9 a.m. on Tuesday at Wilson Funeral Home with public masonic services being held Tuesday at 6 p.m. followed by family receiving friends until 8 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the Charles Selway Memorial Fund for Clark Co. Fair 4-H and FFA Livestock Shows.
