CHARLEY JENSEN

Charley Jensen, age 93, of Donnellson, IA, formerly of Kahoka, MO, died Tuesday,January 2, 2007 in the Donnellson (Iowa) Health Center where he had been a resident since October.

He was born February 15, 1913 in Revere, North Dakota, a son of Einer and Seina Monsen Jensen.

He married Audra Kent in 1932. She preceded him in death in 1963.

Survivors include: two sons, Richard Jensen of West Burlingon, IA and Doug Jensen of Montrose, IA; two daughters, Eloise Gaibel of Montrose, IA and Ruth Ann Ames and her husband, Milton, of Revere, MO; two sisters, Ruth Postle of Cooperstown, ND and Elsie Kunzey of Clarksville, WA; five grandchildren: Randy (Kathy) Gaibel of Donnellson, IA, Bob (Dana) Gillham of Murchison, TX, Chris Jensen and Jason Jensen, both of Fort Madison, IA, and, Kurtis (Wendi) Jensen of Liberty, MO; seven great-grandchildren: Lindsey (Joe) Kirchner, Jenny (Bill) Stewart, and Abby (Corey) Gregory, all of Donnellson, IA, Jasmyne Gillham and Lynn Gillham, both of Murchison, TX, Ziona Jensen of Fort Madison, IA and Luke Jensen of Liberty, MO; five great-great grandchildren: Josey and Jared Kirchner, Kelsey and Cameron Stewart and Hunter Gregory, all of Donnellson, IA; Destiny Upah of Mechanicsville, IA, who was like a granddaughter to him; as well as nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; an infant son; a brother, Einer Monsen; and a sister, Gertrude Williams.

Charley farmed most of his adult life in North Dakota and later served as a school custodian. During World War II he worked in the shipyards in Vancouver, WA, where he had the privilege of seeing Eleanor Roosevelt. He moved to Montrose, IA following his wife's death and worked in the Army Ammunition Plant until retiring in 1978. He lived in Kahoka from 1998 until entering the Donnellson Health Center. He enjoyed all animals and had broke many horses through the years. He especially loved his cat, Sally Ann. He also loved baseball particularly the Cubs and his grandchildren's games. His family was his greatest treasure.

Graveside services will be held Friday, January 5, 2007 at 11 a.m. at the Charleston Cemetery, Charleston, IA with Rev. Goldie Laymon officiating.

Friends can call at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka after 9 a.m. Thursday with family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the Charleston Cemetery.
