Connie Hyde

Connie Hyde, 76, of Luray, Missouri, passed away at 5:45 am on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at the Clark County Nursing Home.

Connie was born on September 28, 1947, in Kirksville, Mo., the daughter of Alvin C and Helen L (Dochterman) Brotherton. Connie graduated from Kahoka High School with the class of 1965. She married Howard Hyde on June 19, 1965, at Luray, Mo., and he preceded her in death on August 12, 2001.

Connie served on the Comb’s cemetery board for many years. She was a member of the Clark Co Quails forever, and of The Order of Eastern Star Kahoka Chapter # 40. Connie and her husband would put in a big garden and enjoyed the produce to give away to family, neighbors, and friends. They also had Quail Eggs and would watch them hatch then raise them so Howard could train his dogs. Connie was known for her homemade from scratch Angel food cakes; they were very popular with many. She was a loving and caring wife, mom, and grandma, making the holiday special with a tradition of making Christmas cookies with her family. She collected rooster figurines that started with a collection from her mother. She looked forward to attending her children’s, grandchildren, and great grandchildren’s music programs, sporting events and any other activities they were involved in. To relax she watched game shows, westerns, food shows and hallmark Christmas movies. Connie enjoyed socializing with others, and most of all loved family gatherings with her family. Connie had a good heart inside and out and if you ever needed anything you could count on her being there.

Connie is survived by 2 sons: Richard Hyde of Arbela, Mo., David (Sarah) Hyde of Luray, Mo., 1 daughter: Joann (Dennis) Hunziker of Kahoka, Mo., 4 grandchildren: Anthony Hunziker, Alyssa Hunziker, Tobias (Michaela) Hyde, Marcus (Aaron Devirick) Hyde, 6  great grandchildren: Oaklee, Oliver, Otto Hyde, Hunter, Mallory Hunziker, Connor Bross, 2 sisters-in-law: Bonnie Brotherton of Kahoka, Mo., Kathy Hyde of New London, Ia., 1 brother-in-law: Maurice (Norma) Hyde of Eldora, Ia., other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 1 brother: JC Brotherton and 1 brother-in-law: Larry Hyde.

Funeral Services for Connie Hyde will be held at 12:00 pm on Friday, July 19, 2024, at the Wilson & Triplett Funeral Home Kahoka, Mo. Kevin Fox will officiate. An Eastern Star Funeral Rite will be held prior to the service at 11:50 am. A burial will follow at the Combs Cemetery, Luray, MO., Visitation with family present will be held on Friday, July 19, 2024, from 10:00 am until time of service at 12:00 pm at Wilson & Triplett Funeral Home.
