DAVID RAYMOND PLANT
David Raymond Plant, age 58, of Joplin, MO, formerly of Kahoka, MO, passed away
Monday, August 1, 2005 at St. John's Hospital in Joplin, MO.
He was born August 12, 1946 in Youngstown, OH, one of six children of Robert Homer and Viola Waris Plant. To this union were also born Robert, Tom, Diane, Sally, and Donna.
Survivors include his son, Christopher Plant and his wife, Dena, of Kahoka, MO; one daughter, Marie Spence and her husband, Kraig, of Columbia, MO; as well as nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and several siblings.
David served in the United States Marine Corps as a member of VMFA 323 division during Vietnam as a soldier in the field as well as a hydraulic mechanic for fighter jets. He was one of the original employees of the Clark Co. Ambulance District, from 1974 until 1977 and had worked as a mechanical draftsman for 18 years for Roquette in Keokuk. He moved to Joplin, MO where he held a job as head of maintenance for the Super Wal-Mart in Webb City, MO.
Dave was a member of Ayer-Boatman Post # 4342, V.F.W. at Kahoka, MO and V.F. W. Post # 5293, at Joplin, MO. He was also a member of the Eagles in Joplin. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved camping and visiting with his friends.
A private service and scattering of ashes will be held at a later date. However, family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, August 13, 2005 at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with military rites at the conclusion by Ayer-Boatman Post # 4342, V.F.W. and Herman Blum Post # 192, American Legion.
