DAVID E. WILSON, JR.

David E. Wilson, Jr., age 59, of Athens (rural Revere), MO, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 in the emergency room of Van Buren Co. Hospital in Keosauqua, IA.

He was born May 1, 1950 at Keokuk, IA, the only son of David E. and Anna Bell

Hootman Wilson.

He attended grade school in Farmington and high school in Washington, IA.

On April 28, 1973, he was united in marriage to Betty L. Hunter at the Athen's Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Betty, of the home; a son, Everett Wilson and his wife, Tracey, of Chesapeake, VA; a daughter, Amy Wilson-Kraemer of Albuquerque, NM; three sisters, Lettie Ann (Doug) Twyman of Burlington, IA, Deloris (Doyle) Heminger of Dannebrog, NE, and Frances Wilson of Davenport, IA; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law:

Louise and Sam Torrey of Riverside, IA, Ralph and Joyce Cutsinger of Trenton, MO, Lois and Dennis Hagen of Fort Madison, IA, Victor and Amber Hunter of Mcclenny, FL, and Larry and Linda Hunter of Warsaw, IL; aunts and uncles: Izene Garnett of Kahoka, MO, Thena Joy and Gary Long of Danville, IA, Gail and Sharon Hootman of Galesburg, IL, and Ralph and Betty Hootman of Burlington, IA; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents and in-laws, Glen and Maxine Hunter.

Dave worked 37 years for the railroad, starting with the Santa Fe in track maintenance. When Santa Fe merged and became BNSF he worked in bridge and building area until his death.

He really enjoyed his work, but was looking forward to his retirement in 109 days. He was a member of Brotherhood Maintenance of Way Union.

He and Betty loved civil war re-enactment and the life-long friends they made. He belonged to Sons of Union Veterans, 2nd Mo. Co. K, CSA Re-enactment Group, was a member of the Athens Park Development Association, a member of the Single Action Shooting Society, and a lifetime and endowment member of the NRA.

Dave enjoyed hunting, horseback riding and had a life-time passion for fine coffee and chocolates. He received a lot of satisfaction when he was able to irritate someone. More than anything, he loved his wife and children and was very proud of their service to our country.

Funeral services were held Monday, February 22, 2010 at 7 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with Words of Comfort by Mr. Kevin Fox. Following the service, cremation rites were accorded with burial to be at a later date.

Memorials in lieu of flowers are suggested to the Athens Park Development Association.
