DEBRA ANN JENKINS
Debra Ann Jenkins, age 48, of Kahoka, MO, passed away on Tuesday, May 25, 2004 in Keokuk Area Hospital, Keokuk, IA, following a courageous battle against cancer.
She was born September 18, 1955 in Milwaukee, WI, the daughter of Walter M. and Rosaline Kowniak Bronk.
On October 7, 1989, she was united in marriage to Charles "Chuck" Jenkins at the Kahoka United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Chuck Jenkins, of Kahoka, MO; mother, Rose Bronk of Kahoka, MO; mother-in-law, Patricia Goben of Kahoka, MO; one son, Curtis Jenkins of the home; six daughters: Amy Walters and Ashley Walters, both of Keokuk, IA, Crystal Jenkins of Quincy, IL, Dawn Graham and her husband, Peter, of Healy, AK, and Andrea Jenkins and Brooke Jenkins, both of Kahoka, MO; six grandchildren: Hanna and Bethany Graham, Joel Jenkins, Keianna and Keyontae Greenwade, and Evin Edmondson; four brothers, Michael Bronk and his fiance Barb, of the state of Washington, Thomas Bronk and his fiancé Sharon, of Red Oak, IA, Terry Bronk and his fiancé Valerie, of Earlville, IL, and, Jay Bronk and his wife Valerie, of Kirksville, MO; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Linda and Carl Luedeman of Kahoka, MO, Wm. Stanley and Sheila Jenkins of Luray, MO, Scott and Libby Goben of Kahoka, MO, Lorrie and Rocky Pomeranz of Eagle Bend, MN, and Robert Goben of Louisiana; aunts and uncles, Chet and Carol Nowaczynski and Ed and Eileen Nowaczynski, all of Milwaukee, WI, Duane and Delores Bronk of Ralston, NE, Ken and Barb Bronk of St. Paul, MN, Sally Bronk of
California, Sandy Bronk of Seattle, WA, and Louise Kowniak of St. Louis, MO; special friends
Nancie Holmes and Karen Tuttle, both of Kahoka, MO; as well as nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her father; a brother, Jeffrey Bronk; and a grandson,David Jericho.
Debra was raised and educated in Milwaukee, WI and had pursued additional courses in accounting in later years. She was baptized on October 9, 1955 in Holy Family Church in Cudahy, WI, and had attended the Kahoka Presbyterian Church. She had volunteered and worked at the Kahoka Headstart a number of years before becoming a teacher aid and later teacher at Wyaconda Headstart Center until deciding to stay home and raise her family. Debbie was a talented artist and loved to paint and create her own free hand stencils. She was also very talented at creating web pages and had created a web site for the 2nd Battalion - 3rd Marine Division which Chuck served with in Viet Nam (www.2-3-3vietnam.org). The web site members grew from 25 to over 400 as a result of Debbie's handling and its' members considered
her equivalent to a Sgt. Major. Through the website and various reunions she and Chuck attended, she had made very close and dear friendships. She had also created a website for Troop 147, Boy Scouts of America. which her son, Curtis, was a member of.
Debbie was devoted to her children and grandchildren. She was a good cook, expert shopper, and loved caring for farm animals and gardening. She was also a huge Tigger fan. She was everyone's counselor, and the first person everyone would go to with their problems and was always right. She was loving and caring and will be greatly missed.
Funeral services are Friday, May 28, 2004 at 10 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with burial in Keokuk National Cemetery.
Friends can call after 11 a.m. on Thursday with family receiving friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Wilson Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the Kahoka/Wyaconda Headstart or the Clark Co. Local Cancer Fund.
