DIANE SNEAD
Diane Snead, age 56, of Kahoka, MO, died Thursday, February 18, 2010, in Keokuk Area Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer.
Diane was born May 25, 1953 at Unionville, MO, a daughter of Alonzo and Iris Davis Clinkenbeard.
On November 18, 1972, she was united in marriage to Dwight E. Snead and they were the proud parents of four sons.
Survivors include her husband, Dwight, of Kahoka; mother, Iris Clinkenbeard of Kirksville, MO; four sons: Daniel (Amy) Snead of Lee's Summit, MO, David Snead of Columbia, MO, Douglas (Jessica) Snead of Kansas City, MO, and Dwayne Snead of Kahoka, MO; five grandchildren: Ethan, Owen and Ella Snead of Lee's Summit, MO, and Clayton and Coleman Snead of Kansas City, MO; two brothers: Tom (Nancy) Clinkenbeard of Winfield, IL, and Ron (Peggy) Clinkenbeard of Oregon, MO; three sisters: Rosie Winkleman and Janice Sue (Jim) Johnson all of Kirksville, MO, and Alona (Robert) Peters of Plainville, IL; brothers and sisters-in-law: Norman and Lela Snead of Denver, MO, Mary and David Glor of Lexington, MO, Larry Snead of Albany, MO, and Roger and Pam Snead of Maryville, MO; dear friend, Linda Riggs of Kahoka, MO; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Diane graduated from Putnam Co. High School and cosmetology school in Kirksville. She kept her license current and practiced for a few years and later mainly for family and friends. Her main job in life was as a homemaker and mom. She provided child care in her home for a number of years and was a second mother to many. Her first priority was always her children and she loved cooking for them, following their school activities in basketball, football and band, watching them fish and even wrapping their deer meat. She always reminded them that "life's not fair". She loved to read, quilt, crochet and be with friends and family.
Diane was a member of Liberty Baptist Church where Dwight is pastor. She assisted him in his ministry living her life as a woman of faith, drawing from God's strength and giving Him the glory in her final days. She was an inspiration to those around her.
Funeral services were held Monday, February 22, 2010 at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Kahoka with Rev. Matt Hoffman the Snead family officiating. Burial followed in Liberty Cemetery.
Memorials were suggested to the American Red Cross Blood Services or the H. E. Sever Memorial Library.
