DONALD M. McKINNEY
Donald M. McKinney, age 89, of Kahoka, died Tuesday, March 21, 2006 in Keokuk Area Hospital.
He was born February 9, 1917 in Kahoka a son of Ray and Gertrude Boone McKinney. He married Nell Robertson Brown in 1948. She preceded him in death.
Survivors include a step-son, Dennis Brown, of Redondo Beach, CA; two grandchildren,
Chantelle Brown of Redlands, CA and Cameron Brown of Redondo Beach, CA; as well as several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a sister, Evelyn; and a brother, Delbert.
Donald graduated from Kahoka High School and served in the Army Air Corp during World War II where he flew over and photographed battlefields. He was released from duty in California where he opened a donut shop and later drove a street car for a short period of time. He retired from Douglas Aircraft (now Boeing) where he worked for many years. Following his wife's death, he returned to Missouri and resided near Wyaconda until moving to Kahoka five years ago.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing and enjoyed annual trips to Colorado with family. He was also a licensed ham operator and enjoyed the friendships he made through that hobby. His family was very special to him and he loved their visits.
A private burial was held Thursday, March 23, 2006 in Kahoka Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka. Memorials were suggested to the local J.A.K.E.S. organization.
