DORA LEE BRAMMER
Dora Lee Brammer, age 84, of Hamilton, IL, passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2020 in Carthage Memorial Hospital in Carthage, IL.
Dora Lee was born June 11, 1935 in Keokuk, IA, a daughter of Cifford Glenn and Althea Blanche Crandal Mohr.
She had been married to Lloyd "Wimpy" Brammer and they were the parents of two children, Penny and Teresa.
Survivors include her daughters, Penny (Randy) Sheriff of Centralia, MO and Teresa Brammer Johnson of Hamilton, IL; three grandchildren: Chris Sheriff of Galesburg, IL, Tiffani (Curtis) Shuman of Centralia, MO, and Melissa (Curtis) Grant of Hamilton, IL; four great grand-children: Lucas, Laden, and Lawson Shuman and Bricker Grant; a sister, Karen (Bob) Walker of Warrensburg, MO; sister-in-law, Darlene Mohr of Canton, MO; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Glenn Mohr; and, long-time companion, Glen Wilsey.
Dora Lee graduated from Kahoka High School in 1953. She was employed by Henniges in Keokuk for 43 years at her retirement.
Dora Lee grew up on a farm in rural Clark County and she enjoyed being a farm girl, including milking cows and all of the chores associated with farm life and being "daddy’s girl"! She liked to work in her yard and especially mowing after working all day in an office and following her retirement. She loved antiquing, auctions, and motorcyle rides,
She was raised in the "old school era" where you worked hard, you took care of your family and offered hospitality to others. She was also a hands on mom and loved birthdays, Christmas, and being with her family. She and her children and two grandchildren were raised and confirmed in St. Paul United Church of Christ in Kahoka. Her faith was important to her and she faithfully read her Upper Room each and every day.
Funeral services were held Thursday, February 20, 2020 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Kahoka with Rev. Dixie Laube officiating. Burial followed in the St. Paul Cemetery.
Friends could call at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka after 9 a.m. Wednesday with family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m.
Memorials were suggested to St. Paul United Church of Christ in Kahoka.
