DOUGLAS RANSOME McWILLIAMS
Douglas Ransome McWilliams, age 80, of Revere, MO, passed away Sunday, January 1, 2006 in Keokuk Area Hospital.
He was born December 27, 1925 near Chambersburg, MO, to James and Mae Kerr McWilliams.
He was united in marriage to Celia Bonham on December 17, 1949 in Kansas City, MO.
Doug was raised on a farm south of Chambersburg, MO and later started his own farming and logging operation which he continued for 42 years.
He graduated from Kahoka High School in 1943. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kahoka where he not only served as deacon, but more importantly was devoted to raising his family in the church.
He loved his family deeply and was very proud of all of them. You could not think of him without thinking also of his beloved Celia; for they were truly one, for 56 years. Their love is, and will be a love that was an inspiration to their children. Together, they modeled love of God, church, and family in every sense of the word. He was a great family man. THAT, was his greatest accomplishment.
Survivors include his wife, Celia, of Revere, MO; three sons, Kent McWilliams and his wife, Ronda, of Marion, IL, Mark McWilliams of Keokuk, IA, and, Jamie McWilliams and his wife, Wendy, of Keokuk, IA; a daughter, Karen Woodruff and her husband, Terry, of Kahoka, MO; one sister, Marilyn Otte, of Kahoka, MO; two brothers, Don McWilliams and his wife, Norma, of West Plains, MO, and, Richard McWilliams and his wife, Mary Joy, of Revere, MO; a brother-in-law, M. M. Bonham of LasVegas, NV; a sister-in-law, Leah Gossett of Minneapolis, MN; eleven grandchildren: Grant (Charlene) McWilliams, Graydon McWilliams, Kentyl (Jacob) Edwards, Shane (Heather) McWilliams, Kristen (Jody) Humes, Dana (Broderick) Busch, Derrick Woodruff, Terra Woodruff, and, Hannah, Grace, and Jake McWilliams; four great grandchildren: Trinity, Halle and Isabelle McWilliams, and Taylor Humes; also nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services are Thursday, January 5, 2006 at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in
Kahoka, MO. Burial will follow in Revere Cemetery.
Friends can call at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka after 9 a.m. on Wednesday with family
receiving friends from 6-8 p.m.
