ELIZABETH A. HEINZE
Elizabeth A. Heinze, age 87, of Kahoka, MO, died Wednesday, July 14, 2010, in Keokuk Area Hospital in Keokuk, IA.
Elizabeth was born October 29, 1922, in Keokuk, the daughter of Simon and Ethel Krueger Jesberg.
She attended grade school in the Lone Star district of Clark County, Kahoka High School
for three years and graduated from Canton High School in 1940. She received a degree in business from Gem City College in Quincy, IL, receiving a lifetime scholarship to return to further her education at any time.
Elizabeth worked as a secretary at White House Creamery and later at the State Central Bank both in Keokuk. On January 5, 1954, she was united in marriage to Howard Francis Heinze at the Alexandria Presbyterian Church. From that time on she was a full-time housewife, farm wife, and mother.
Survivors include a son, Leslie Heinze and his wife, Arlene, of Kahoka, MO; two daughters, Joyce Taeger and her husband, Jeffrey, of West Burlington, IA and Marlene Spory and her husband, Keith, of Edina, MO; eight grandchildren: Matthew (Holly) Heinze of Kahoka, MO, Christina (James) Shanks of Grimes, IA, Ann (Jake) Bonner of Marion, IA, Luke (Amber) Taeger of West Des Moines, IA, Andrew Taeger of West Burlington, IA and his friend, Liberty Helt of Danville, IA, Seth Spory and Phillip Spory, both of Edina, MO and Casey (Jerred) Head of Wentzville, MO; five great-grandchildren: Clayton and Lauryn Heinze of Kahoka, MO, Kaylee and Alexia Shanks of Grimes, IA, and Miley Head of Wentzville, MO; two sisters Doris (Robert) Eddleman and Twila Horter, all of Kahoka, MO; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law: Ethel Lillard and Mary and Joe Garrels, all of Kahoka, MO; as well as nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Betty Boltz and her husband, Roscoe; and brothers-in-law, Leroy Lillard and Stanley Horter.
Elizabeth was a faithful member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Kahoka and Sunday School teacher for over 25 years. She loved to garden, raise chickens, research family genealogy and do embroidery work. She found great delight in caring for her cats, dogs, parakeets and chickens. She enjoyed life, her family and especially Sunday dinners when all were present to eat her special fried chicken and coconut cream pie.
Funeral services wereheld Saturday, July 17, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Kahoka with burial following in the St. Paul Cemetery.
Memorials were suggested to the St. Paul Cemetery, Kahoka.
