ESTHER LINQUIST SAAR
Esther Linquist Saar, age 92, of Kahoka, MO, passed away Saturday, August 26, 2006 at the Clark Co. Nursing Home in Kahoka.
She was born October 4, 1913 at her parent's home in rural Clark County, a daughter of Ortin and Lena Theiss Heinze.
She married Iner E. Linquist on October 3, 1937 at Kahoka and they were the parents of Leland and Vivian. Iner preceded her in death on April 23, 1985. She later married Dale E. Saar on August 17, 1991 in Kahoka. He preceded her in death on April 19, 2000.
Survivors include a son, Leland Linquist and his wife, Karen, of Keokuk, IA; a daughter, Vivian Perry and her husband, Larry, of Luray, MO; a sister, Mildred Boice of Kahoka, MO; a sister-in-law, Mary Agnes Heinze of Mitchellville, MD; six grandchildren: Chris Perry and his wife, Lisa, of Overland Park, KS, Constance Parker and her husband, Rob, of Columbia, MO, Jennifer Graf of Richardson, TX, Kandie White and her husband, J. D., of Keokuk, IA, Robin McGuire of Keokuk, IA and Kevin Linquist also of Keokuk, IA; nine great grandchildren: Meghan Rae Perry, Taylor David and Casey Nicole Parker, Timothy Michael Philp, Alex Houston and Kyle Edward Graf, Whitney Brooke Stoneking, Daniel Lloyd Brotherton, and Megan Elizabeth Jean White; as well as nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Iner and Dale; a brother, Peter Heinze; and a sister, Ruth Dinger.
Esther graduated from Kahoka High School in 1932 and attended Kirksville State Teacher's College. She was an excellent cook and had shared her talent at various places through the years including the Food Bar, Dunn's, Kahoka Public Schools, Hemm's Café and the Lee County Home. After she retired, she found it hard to sit still and returned to cooking at the Clark Co. Nutrition Site and later volunteered there. She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Kahoka and various organizations within the church when her health permitted. She also was formerly a member of extension and had worked with sewing in 4-H. She loved to cook, and enjoyed traveling, crocheting and quilting. Her greatest joy came from her children and grandchildren.
Funeral services are Wednesday, August 30, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home with burial in St. Paul Church Cemetery.
Friends can call after 10 a.m. Tuesday with family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the St. Paul Cemetery or St. Paul United Church of Christ in Kahoka.
