Veva L. Haage, 79, passed away peacefully at 4:24 pm on Thursday, December 14, 2023, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois. She was born on April 26, 1944 in Kahoka, Missouri to Aaron and Lucille (Bair) Speake.
Veva loved to babysit her grandchildren, great grandchildren and many other little ones and they would watch cooking shows and Judge Judy with grandma. When not babysitting she enjoyed shopping with her family, camping, strolling along the South Carolina beach, and traveling with Mitch. To relax Veva liked sitting in her swing with a cup of coffee and her dog “Poofer”.
Veva is survived by her Loving Partner for over 30 years Mitchell Long of Kahoka, Missouri, the children’s father; Joseph E. O’Day of Fort Madison, Iowa, 2 daughters; Brenda (Mark) Sisson and Bonnie (David) Morgan both of Kahoka, Missouri, and a son and daughter that were like her own children Lori (Stan) Elschlager of Kirksville, Missouri, and Mike Long of Kansas City, Missouri. 1 Sister-in-law; Jeannie Hook of Alabama, 6 grandchildren; Nora (J.R.) Smith, Travis Sisson, Daniel Morgan, Tayler (Sean) Smith, Shannon (Shelbi) O’Day, and Lathen Elschlager, 14 great grandchildren; Devin, Rylee, Erin, Bryce, Kevin, Annaley, Madisyn, Jackson, Grayson, Evan, Shay, Lucia, Cali, Preston, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a husband Glenn Haage, 1 son; Kevin O’Day, 2 sisters; Virginia Whiteaker and Barbara Ann in infancy, 1 brother-in-law; Carroll Whiteaker.
