FLOYD N. MOREHOUSE

Floyd N. Morehouse, age 76, of Kahoka, MO, died unexpectedly on Friday, February 8, 2008, in the emergency room of Keokuk Area Hospital.

He was born July 15, 1931 at the family farm in rural Kahoka, the son of Asa and Lula Pearl Campbell Morehouse.

On December 27, 1959 he was united in marriage to Louise Nichols at the First Baptist Church in Wayland.

Survivors include Louise, his beloved wife of 48 years, of the home; two sons, Wayne Morehouse and his wife, Cheryl, of Keokuk, IA and Ted Morehouse and his companion, Debbie Otte of Kahoka, MO; one daughter, Tina Thomas and her husband, Glen, of Hamilton, IL; five grandchildren: Denise Hendricksmeyer and her husband, Jason, of Keokuk, IA, Andrew Morehouse of Keokuk, IA, Tabitha and Daniel Thomas of Hamilton, IL and Kayla Otte of Kahoka, MO; one great grandson, Alex Hendricksmeyer of Keokuk, IA; one brother, Raymond Morehouse and his wife, Rose, of Kahoka, MO; two sisters, Marjorie Henderson and her husband, Allen, of Gillispie, IL and Betty Mohr of Kahoka, MO; sisters-in-law, Hazel Morehouse, Mary Morehouse and Lucille Lyon, all of Kahoka, MO; aunts and uncles, Grace and Wayne Hodges of Kahoka, MO and Bonnie and Art Dunlap of Wayland, MO; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Marvin and Edwin Morehouse; and, two brothers-in-law, Everett Mohr and Edwin Red Lyon.

Floyd was a U.S. Marine Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He proudly served his country from February of 1952 through February of 1954. He was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Wayland and a 37 year employee of Sheller Globe, retiring in 1993. Floyd was a life-time member of Steelworkers Union # 444 at Keokuk. In addition to the many years of working at Sheller Globe, he also farmed. In earlier years, Floyd like to hunt and fish. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, particularly making bird houses, and loved to visit. He lived simply and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, February 12, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Zion Cemetery southeast of Kahoka, MO, with Rev. Dan Deatrick officiating. Military rites were conducted by the Missouri Veterans Honors Program, Ayer-Boatman Post # 4342, V.F.W. and Herman Blum Post # 192.

Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church of Wayland.
