FLOYD N. SOMMERS
Floyd N. Sommers, age 68, of rural Kahoka, MO, died Wednesday, December 6, 2006 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born May 4, 1938, a son of Nick and Margaret Riney Sommers.
He married Dianna Young LeMaster on August 31, 1978 at Kahoka.
Survivors include his wife, Dianna, of the home; his mother-in-law, Mary Helm of Kahoka, MO; two sons, Nick and Yahannia Sommers of rural Kahoka, MO and Dustin Dochterman and his companion of many years, Annie Alvis, of Wayland, MO; two daughters, Tonya and Roger Daniels of Kahoka, MO and Tonya Nicole Hayden of Corpus Christi, TX; eight grandchildren: Summer Nicole Hayden of Corpus Christi, TX, Dusty and Shane Dochterman of Wayland, MO, and, Brionna and Isaak Sommers and Dayanara, Damara and Drayson Daniels, all of Kahoka, MO; two brothers, Robert and Sue Sommers of Luray, MO and Carl and Terry Sommers of Arbela, MO; a sister, Charlotte Keller of Ames, IA; Dianna's sisters and brother and their families; as well as nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Justin Dochterman.
Floyd graduated from Granger High School and was a proud U. S. Army Veteran. He was an active member of Ayer-Boatman Post # 4342, V.F.W. and a former and charter member of the Clark Co. Moose.
As employees of L. E. Meyers & Co. he and his brother, Bob, hung power lines in the area until starting the Sommers and Son Sawmill over 30 years ago. He loved the sawmill and loved working. He farmed, planted many trees, and grew and sold pumpkins, watermelon and sweet corn for many years. He loved the outdoors, working in the woods, hunting, fishing, and riding his 4-wheeler. Part of his time in the service was spent as a cook and his eggs were in demand. He loved to cook for his family and no one's hashbrown or pancakes could compare to his. His greatest love was his family.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 9, 2006 at 11 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with burial and military rites following in the Kahoka Cemetery.
Friends can call after 2 p.m. Friday at Wilson Funeral Home with family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Clark Co. Local Cancer Fund.
