Gary L. Cameron, age 56, of rural Kahoka, MO, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 15, 2003 in the emergency room of Keokuk Area Hospital in Keokuk, IA.

He was born January 11, 1947 in Keokuk, IA, the son of Hugh and Hazel Hohimer Cameron.

On July 16, 1966, he was united in marriage to L. Kay Hunziker in Kahoka.

Survivors include his wife, Kay, of Kahoka, MO; two daughters, Regina Blum and her husband, Daryl, of Kahoka, MO, and Rachel Hart and her husband, Kyle, of Fowler, IL; three grandchildren, Camille, Cydney, and Cooper Blum; one sister, Joyce Eaton and her husband, Greg, of Springfield, MO; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dean and Dorothea Hunziker, Shirley and Danny Wilson, and Rick and Lesia Hunziker, all of Kahoka, MO, and Becky and Jim Crane of Canton, MO; aunts and uncles by marriage: Lowell and Clara Ann Drebes of Quincy, IL, Glen and Lorene Frenzen of Iowa City, IA, Roland and Marie Kimmey of Buffalo Gap, SD, Earl and Gladys Hunziker of Hamilton, IL, Nettie Bash and Wilma Boudreau, both of Kahoka, MO, and Dean and Pauline Wood of Canton, MO; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Gary was a 1965 graduate of Kahoka High School and of barber school in St. Louis.He had been a barber for many years before he started his own construction business and carpentered in and around Clark County until going on the road as a cross country semi driver in 1981. Later, Kay went on the road with him and earned her commercial license and they traveled throughout the United States, spending precious time together.

He was a member of the Kahoka Christian Church. He enjoyed hunting, loved to fish and camp out and especially loved his grandchildren and dog, Barney.

Funeral were held Thursday, December 18, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with Pastor Shawn McAfee officiating. Eulogies will be given by Mr. David Kirchner and Mr. Dean Hunziker. Mrs. Ida Ross will be pianist. Special music, "He" and "Amazing Grace" will be by Mrs. Louise Bash and recorded selection of "Go Now in Peace" by Mr. H L Plenge.

Pallbearers will be David Kirchner, Alan Ludwick, John Brennan, Clinton Hunziker, Miles Cameron, and Jay Cameron.

Burial will be in Kahoka Cemetery.

Visitation is after 10 a.m. on Wednesday with family receiving friends 6-8 p.m Wednesday evening.

Memorials are suggested to C.A.R.E. or to the Kahoka Cemetery.
