GENE E. PAUL

Gene E. Paul, age 65, of Wyaconda, MO, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 29, 2014, at his home surrounded by his family.

Gene was born February 10, 1949 at Marietta, IL, a son of Lee and Vivian Paul.

He was united in marriage to Penny C. Webster on September 2, 1967 at the Wyaconda Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Penny; his mother-in-law, Dorothy Webster of Kahoka; two sons, Darin (Robin) Paul of Boonville, MO and James (Amanda) Paul of Wyaconda, MO; one daughter, Kelly (Rob) Gipson of Good Hope, IL; grandchildren: Sharae and Adam Newell of Boonville, MO and Dawson and Jillian Crane of Wyaconda, MO; two special little friends who lovingly referred to him as "grandpa", Kayleigh Saltzman and Auttumn Ott; a brother, Lindal (Mary) Paul of Ellisville, IL; a sister, Sonia (Roger) Kaldenberg of Memphis, MO; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Gary and Nancy Webster of Wyaconda, MO, Dianne and Mark Seyb of Arbela, MO, Mike and Cathy Webster of Kahoka, MO, Teresa and Kevin Skinner of Memphis, MO and Steve and Rachel Webster of Wyaconda, MO; aunts and uncles: Lyle and Pat Walters, Dale and Nadyne Walters and Mildred Wilson, all of Bushnell, IL, Lawrence and Laura Paul of West Liberty, IA, Cecil Morrow of LaBelle, MO, Fred Webster of Kahoka, MO and Patsy and J.D. Baker of Texas; as well as nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lee Paul; his mother, Vivian Paul Lantz; step-father, Richard Lantz; father-in-law, Eugene Webster; and a brother, Ron Paul.

Gene graduated from Wyaconda High School in 1967 and entered the Army in 1968. He worked various factory jobs and for the County of Clark while farming near Wyaconda. He began his career as a crop adjuster in the 1970's and went into business in 1980 selling crop insurance with Toots Bradley, which they named Bradley and Paul Insurance. In the mid 1980's he continued on his own renaming it Gene Paul Insurance. He was proud to bring his son, Darin, into the business with him which continues to operate in Wyaconda, under the name Paul Ins., L.L.C.

Gene loved his work, being outdoors whether he was hunting, fishing (especially on Spoon River), or gardening and canning. He was an avid Cardinal fan and loved playing guitar with his friends. His family was his pride and joy.

Funeral services were held Friday, January 2, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with Revs. Paul Harvey and Rob Quillin officiating. Burial with military rites follow in the New Woodville Cemetery, south of Wyaconda, MO.

Friends called at Wilson Funeral Home after noon on Thursday, January 1, 2015, with family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to NEMO Hospice or Wyaconda Firefighter's Association.
