GENEIEVE C. GREEN

Geneieve C. Green, age 87, of Kahoka, MO, died Sunday, May 11, 2008 at Keokuk Area Hospital in Keokuk, IA.

She was born September 15, 1920 at Surratt Hollow, Brown County, IL, the youngest of ten children born to Bert and Frances Hill Ferrill.

She had been married to Eulis Balentine and they were the parents of four children: Sandra, Terry Butch, Betty, and Donnie.

Survivors include two sons: Terry Butch Balentine of Wayland, MO, and Donnie Balentine of Keokuk, IA; two daughters, Sandy Egley and her husband, Paul, of Wayland, MO, and Betty St. Clair of Kahoka, MO; twelve grandchildren: Teri (Marty) Cockrell of Keokuk, IA, John Egley of Wayland, MO, Faith Egley of Kahoka, MO, Hope Egley of Medill, MO, Daniel (Kim) Moore of Keokuk, IA, Belinda Cook of Alexandria, MO, and, Terry Lee (Kristal) Balentine, Rhonda Balentine, Donnie Balentine, and Tina, Tony and Jerry Washburn, all of Keokuk, IA: seventeen great grandchildren: Colby and Casey Cockrell, Noah Egley, Alexis Irvin, A. J. Egley, Nathan and Andrew Moore, Jamie Moore, Brook Greer, Sarah Gould, Bo Balentine, Kayla, Ragan and Sadie Dickens, Jaylee Huffman, and, Katherine and Donnie Balentine; several great-great grandchildren; as well as other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her nine siblings; a grandson, Jimmy Taylor; a granddaughter, Genny Dawn Balentine; and a great-granddaughter, Nicole Greer.

Geneieve attended the Bible Baptist Church in Kahoka and was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She prepared food for many dinners and sold poppies until this past year when her health started to decline. Geneieve also worked many years with the American Cancer Society drive.

For most of her life she worked in food service at many restaurants and later became a caregiver. She was dedicated to providing in-home health care with compassion and dignity.

She loved flowers and coming from a musical family, had a deep love for music. She treasured her family and shared her love also with the neighborhood children, baking cookies and providing caring and acceptance. She was affectionately known by many as

Granny Green.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 15, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with Pastor Orlie Yoder officiating. Burial will follow in the Kahoka Cemetery.

Friends can call at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka after 9 a.m. Wednesday with family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the Clark Co. Local Cancer Fund.
