GENEVIEVE G. SNOWBARGER

Genevieve G. Snowbarger, age 90, of Keosauqua, IA, formerly of Arbela, MO,died Saturday, May 22, 2004 in the Van Buren Co. Hospital in Keosauqua.

She was born March 13, 1914 at Richland, IA, a daughter of Lacey and Eva Mae Bales VanDyke.

On June 2, 1931, she was united in marriage to Theodore Snowbarger at Des Moines, IA. He preceded her in death on October 20, 1992.

Survivors include two daughters, Leola Faye Harness and her husband Ellis, of Donnellson, IA and Lona Mae Pilcher and her husband LeRoy, of Keosauqua, IA; one brother, Earl VanDyke of Marshalltown, IA; 4 step grandchildren: Sue Arnold of Keosauqua, IA, LeRoy

Pilcher, Jr. and his wife, Julia, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, Winford Pilcher of Keosauqua, IA, and, Shawn Pilcher and special friend, Melinda, of Mt. Pleasant, IA; 10 step great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, John Lavern Snowbarger; two baby grandsons, David and William Smith; two step great grandchildren, Spencer and Barbara Pilcher; two sisters; and five brothers.

Genevieve had lived in Arbela for over 40 years where she was a member of the Methodist Church and president of the Ladies Aid. She moved to Keosauqua following her husband's death in 1992 to be closer to her daughters. She had been an employee of the Memphis Kiseling Nursing Home until it closed and was a former employee of the Catfish Place at Arbela.

Genevieve loved her step grandchildren and their families and looked forward to their visits. Her friends were very special to her and she was always glad when she could offer a helping hand. The time they spent playing cards and visiting together meant a lot to her. She loved summer months when she could garden and can and grow a variety of flowers. Summers also brought many visits from children, many who called her "Aunt Jenny" and "Grandma".

She was blessed to be able to stay in her own home until this past March when she entered the

nursing home in Keosauqua.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday, May 26, 2004 at 1:30 p.m. at Granger Cemetery, Granger, MO, with Brother David Alexander officiating. There will be no visitation.

Memorials are suggested to the Granger Cemetery.

Arrangements are being handled by Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka.
