George "Wayne" Kirchner 79, passed away suddenly at 7:48 am on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at his home with his family.
Wayne was born on February 27, 1945, on the family farm near Kahoka, Missouri, the son of the late Herbert and Louise (Harper) Kirchner. Wayne graduated from Kahoka High School with the class of 1963. He married Sandra J. (O’Day) Kirchner on January 3, 1970, at Chambersburg, Missouri, and she survives.
Wayne was passionate about farming from a very early age of 15. At the age of 19, he had saved up and was able to buy his first farm. Farming was his lifelong ambition, from tending to the fields, caring for his angus cows, hogs, and especially being able to work side by side with his son Danny who is following in his dad’s footsteps. He still runs 2 of the old tractors that were his dad’s and still lives on the family farm where he was raised. He enjoyed watching “Gunsmoke”, working and weeding his garden, and had a large corn patch. He stayed in touch weekly with phone calls to his sisters, who were very important to him. His family will cherish the precious times they spent with Wayne, and it was during those times that he shared stories with his family. Wayne was a simple and quiet man. He didn’t require much to be happy, but his greatest blessings came from his wife, his 3 children and his greatest joy, his granddaughter Hanna.
In addition to his wife of 54 years, Sandra Kirchner, Wayne is survived by his 1 son: Danny Kirchner of Kahoka, Mo., 1 daughter: Angie Kirchner of Kahoka, Mo., 1 granddaughter: Hanna Kirchner of Kahoka, Mo., Mother-in-law: Vanetta Dalton of Kahoka, Mo., 3 sisters: Alice Terrill of Kansas City, Mo., Evelyn Baker of Raymore, Mo., Dorothy (Harold) Clough of Kansas City, Mo., and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son: Andrew Kirchner on March 23, 2010, Father-in-law: Henry O’Day, Step Father-in-law: Lester Dalton, 4 brothers-in-law: Raymond Terrill, Bill Baker, Gary O’Day, and Gale O’Day.
