Gerald L. Denham, age 76, of Kahoka, MO, died Wednesday, October 20, 2004 at his home.
He was born January 2, 1928 near Kahoka, MO, a son of Cecil and Alma Gram Denham.
On July 7, 1946 he was united in marriage to Betty J. Dinger at her parent's home south of Kahoka by Rev. Martensen.
Survivors include his wife, Betty, of Kahoka, MO; one son, Jerry Denham and his wife, Terry, of Kahoka, MO; one grandson, Cory Denham and his wife, Monique, of Marengo, IA; two great grandchildren, Chelsea Lynn and Nickolas James Denham of Marengo, IA; one brother, Eugene Denham and his wife, Ruth, of Kahoka; three sisters, Margaret Ranck, Lois Wendling and her husband, Henry, and Eunice Buford and her husband, Harlan, all of Kahoka, MO; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Al Pasiuk of Southgate, MI and Donald and Linda Dinger of Winterhaven, FL; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Laverne Gram; a brother, William Denham, in infancy; and grandson, Nick Denham in 1988.
Gerald was a life-long resident of Clark County and a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ. He had farmed and raised cattle all of his life south of Kahoka. He loved being on the farm and particularly loved his cattle. Even as his health failed he continued to haul grain this fall and check his cattle daily. His land was very special to him and he referred to fields by different loved one's names so that when he said he was going to Cory's field or to Nick's field, family knew where to find him.
Gerald was a life-long fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and we're sure he had a hand in the fact that they are going to the World Series. He loved to socialize, loved family, and idolized his great grandchildren.
Funeral services are Sunday, October 24, 2004 at 2 p.m. at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Kahoka with Rev. Kenneth Beckmann officiating.
