GERALDINE MAY SOULE EVERMON
Geraldine Evermon, age 91, of Kahoka, MO, passed away Monday, September 10, 2018, in Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.
Geraldine was born August 15, 1927, in Wayland, MO, the youngest of five girls born to Sherman G. and Ollie Parsons Soule.
She was united in marriage to Howard Vernon Evermon on February 14, 1946, in Kahoka by Rev. Monroe. Howard preceded her in death on July 26, 2012.
Survivors include her children: Linda Jean Evermon of Kahoka, Howard Frederick (Vandy) Evermon of Columbia, and JoAn (Peter) DiPaola of Royal Palm Beach, FL; four grandchildren: Lisa Marie (Roger) Rohrer of Dysart, IA, Leann Nicole Baker of Kahoka, Robert Evermon of Perryopolis, PA, and Justin (Daniela) Keeling of Orlando, FL; nine great grandchildren: Brigette Rohrer, Colt and Caleb Baker, Adeline, Gabriele, and Elijah Evermon, and Lukas, Natalia, and Malakai Keeling; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Zola Brammer of Kahoka, Laura Webber of Moberly, and Ernest Evermon of Hamilton; as well as nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her four sisters: Anita Pullins, Elma Maddox, Viola Kroencke, and Beulah Jones; and brothers and sisters-in-law: George Evermon, Vera Mae Shuler, Viola Davis, Pearl Gregory, Mabel Wolf, Beulah Dobson, Frances Gergory, Mary Lipper, Betty Fox, and two in infancy, Roy Evermon and Myrtle Jean Evermon.
Geraldine lived most of her life in Wayland and then Kahoka. She attended school at Wayland until her senior year, graduating from Kahoka High School. Some of her previous employments included working for Guy Wiggens at the drug store in Wayland, Home McDaniel Grocery Store, at the telephone office in Wayland, the Cashie Lido Café and Ben Franklin Store, both in Chillicothe, IL. She retired from Shellor Globe in Keokuk.
Geraldine was a member of the First Baptist Church in Kahoka, the D.U.V. of C.W.,
Mayflower - National and Missouri, and a member of Union Local 444.
She enjoyed embroidering tea towels and organizing school and family reunions. In later years she enjoyed working on family trees and was really proud when she traced the Soule name back to George Soule who came over on the Mayflower as a servant to Charles Winslow. She is the 9th generation of George Soule. She was very proud of her family and loved spending time with them.
Funeral services were held Thursday, September 13, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with Pastor Rob Quillin officiating. Burial was in the Kahoka Cemetery.
Visitation was held at Wilson Funeral Home after 10 a.m. Wednesday, with family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m.
Memorials may be made to Blessing Hospital or the Mayflower Society of Missouri.
