HARLAN W. BUFORD

Harlan W. Buford, age 77, of Kahoka, MO, died Monday, September 22, 2008, at the Clark Co. Nursing Home in Kahoka.

He was born December 31, 1930 in Fort Madison, IA, the son of Chester and Orvetta Spoor Buford of Donnellson, IA.

On October 17, 1948, he was united in marriage to Eunice Denham at her parents' home by Rev. Kroelien. They would have celebrated 60 years of marriage next month.

Survivors include his wife, Eunice, of Kahoka; a son, Kevin Buford and his wife, Rhonda, of Kahoka; four grandchildren: Dr. Britni and her husband, Cpt. Jeffrey Weaver of Enterprise, AL, Bradi and her husband, Dr. Wesley Creech of Union City, TN, and Brian Buford and Brenna Buford, both of Kahoka; a sister, Juanita Roberson of Fort Worth, TX; a brother, Charlie Buford and his wife, Janet, of Donnellson, IA; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law: Ruth Denham, Betty Denham and Henry Wendling, all of Kahoka; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a nephew, Jackie Roberson; a niece, Carol Buford; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Laverne and John Gram, Margaret Ranck, Lois Wendling, Gerald Denham, Marlene Denham and Eugene Denham.

Harlan was a U. S. Army veteran, serving in Germany during the Korean conflict. He was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Kahoka and a former consistory member.

He spent the majority of his life farming until his health forced him to retire. He and Eunice received the Missouri Farm Management Recognition Program State Honor in 1980 and the previous year received county recognition. Harlan loved spending time outdoors, fishing and hunting. The only thing he loved more was his family and his grandchildren, whom he adored.

Funeral services were held Thursday, September 25, 2008, at 10 a.m. at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Kahoka with Rev. Kenneth Beckmann officiating. Burial was in the Kahoka Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to St. Paul United Church of Christ in Kahoka.
