Harold Peters

Alexandria, Missouri

Harold L. Peters, 88, of Alexandria, was called home on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois with his family by his side.

 

He was born on December 24, 1934, the son of the late Herman & Mayme (Powell) Peters. Harold married Roberta “Joan” Kleinert on December 3, 1966, and she preceded him in death on December 3, 2011.

 

Harold worked for many years for Sheller-Globe in Keokuk, Iowa as a compounder. He loved to work with his hands, whether it was fixing an item or creating something. Harold liked to bake pies and cookies for family and friends. The Chicago Cubs were Harold’s favorite baseball team, and he was especially ecstatic when they won the World Series in 2016. He was a willing volunteer and always wanted to help others. Harold loved his family and will be missed by all who knew him.

 

He is survived by four children; Vick Peters, Virgil (Linda) Peters, Valarie (John) Schonarth and Brad (Sara) Peters, ten grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, nine great-great grandchildren, sisters; Shirley (Dennis) Sheridan, Karen Goings and Susan (Barry) Juaire, a brother; Gerald (Ann) Peters, special friends; Robin Bloch, Lisa Schuckman and Troy Hickerson and by several nieces, nephews & cousins. In addition to his wife and parents, Harold was preceded in death by his father & mother-in-law; Walter & Elizabeth Kleinert, his son; Timothy Peters, a brother in infancy; Donald Peters, fiancé; Betty Hickerson and by three brothers in-law; Charles Goings, George Kleinert & John Kleinert.

 

Celebration of Life services honoring Harold’s life will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Saturday, May 27, 2023, at the Wilson & Triplett Funeral Home of Kahoka. Pastor Randy Ewart will officiate. Inurnment will follow at the Kahoka City Cemetery. Memorial contributions in memory of Harold are suggested to the Alexandria Baptist Church, Blessing Hospice Foundation or to the American Kidney Foundation.
