HARVEY H.COFFMAN, SR.
Harvey H. Coffman, Sr., age 70, of rural Kahoka, MO, died Thursday, March 4, 2004 at his home with his family by his side.
He was born February 24, 1934 at Lusk, Wyoming, a son of Harvey H. and Opal Robertson Coffman.
On February 27, 1959 he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Tesch in Lake Worth, FL and they had just celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary this past week.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth, of Kahoka, MO; four sons, Michael Stewart of Marion, IA, Harvey Coffman, Jr. and his wife, Maria, of Kahoka, MO, Charles Coffman and his wife, Melissa, of Kahoka ,MO, and George Coffman of Keokuk, IA; two daughters, Debra Smith and her husband, Jeffrey, of Revere, MO, and Malinda Joy Beaird and her husband, Tim, of Kahoka, MO; sixteen grandchildren: Seth and Miranda Stewart, Julie Coffman, Sarah, Eddie and Chris Coffman, Kelsey Coffman, Karrie Ann Cochenour, Melissa Perry, Christopher Smith, Tony Smith, Troy Smith, Jeremy Smith, and Justin, Megan and Jessica Beaird; one great grand-child, Lauren Cochenour; a brother, Eugene Coffman of Texas; two sisters, Marianne Thomson of Mayer,Arizona and Bonita Dexter of Garden City, KS; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-father Clifford Cone, who raised him; step-father, Wylie Pollock; and a sister, Terry Huerto.
Harvey graduated from Memphis High School. He entered the U. S. Army where he earned the distinction of being an all around infantry man which is awarded to a select few. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Wayland MO. A retired sheet metal worker, he was a member of Sheet Metal Workers Local # 91 out of Rock Island, IL.
Harvey loved being home with his family and especially family gatherings. He enjoyed being outdoors and loved taking care of his property and keeping the grounds looking nice. He also enjoyed his workshop and spending time there working on things. He enjoyed camping and listening to country music. He was known for his good advice and was a good, loving family man and took pride in the work he did. He always stressed the importance of loving one another.
Funeral services are Monday, March 8, 2004 at 11 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with Rev. Dan Deatrick officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in Keokuk National Cemetery.
Friends can call after 9 a.m. on Monday at Wilson Funeral Home with family receiving friends
until time of services.
Memorials are suggested to the Wayland First Baptist Church, the Clark Co. Local Cancer Fund, or Blessing Hospice.
