HELEN L. OGBORNE
Helen L. Ogborne, age 68, of Alexandria, MO, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 11, 2019 in the emergency room of Unity Point Hospital in Keokuk.
Helen was born January 16, 1951 in Quincy, IL, a daughter of Clarence and Jennie "Jinx" Jones Whitaker.
She grew up in Durham and attended school in Ewing.
She was united in marriage to Thomas Lee Ogborne on July 9, 1977 in Ontario, CA. He preceded her in death on October 2, 1981.
Survivors include her children, Alan (Kris) Whitaker of Puyallup, WA, Tammy Butler of Alexandria, and Shayla Alcantara of Quantico, VA; ten grandchildren: Thomas and Robert Butler of Alexandria, Michael Butler of Moreno Valley, CA, Andrew, David, Matt, Zack and Luke Whitaker, all of Puyallup, WA and Kai and Roman Alcantara of Quantico, VA; a great grandson, Thomas Butler, Jr. of Perris, CA; one brother, George Whitaker of LaBelle; one sister, Jessie Heriford of Kahoka; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; six brothers: Clarence, Robert, Ralph, Don, Norman and Larry Whitaker; and three sisters, Bonnie Crawford, and Dolly and Linda Whitaker.
Helen felt fortunate to be a homemaker and stay home and raise her children. She loved playing mahjong on her computer and watching the shopping network. She also spent many hours crocheting and knitting. She was of the Christian faith and frequently visited Peaksville Christian Church when visiting family in Missouri. She had returned to Missouri two years ago to be closer to her siblings and her many nieces and nephews and cousins.
A Memorial Service was held Thursday, March 14, 2019 at 7 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with Pastor Shawn McAfee officiating.
Inurnment will be at a later date with her husband at the Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, CA.
