HOWARD L. WYRICK

Howard L. Wyrick, age 93, of Montrose, IA, died Sunday, July 9, 2006 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.

He was born June 5, 1913, in Keokuk, IA, one of five sons of Jesse Ingram and Dora Morrisey Wyrick.

He married Freda B. Lovell on April 25, 1942. She preceded him in death on August 26, 2001.

Survivors include two sons, Ronald L. Wyrick and his wife, Jan, of Kahoka, MO, and William E. Wyrick of Bellingham, WA; two grandchildren, Stacie Redding and her husband, Rusty, of Kahoka, MO and Nathan Wyrick and his wife, Paulette, of Donnellson, IA; five great grandchildren: Bailey Wyrick and Quentin and Shelby Redding of Kahoka, MO, and Blake and Brayden Wyrick of Donnellson, IA; one brother, Albert Wyrick and his wife, Juanita, of Montrose, IA; brother-in-law, Ray Lovell of Fort Madison, IA; sister-in-law, Katie Baugher and her husband, Chester, of Macomb, IL; as well as nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and three brothers, Ray, Lester, and Clayton Wyrick.

Howard left home at an early age and worked on a horse ranch in Nebraska until making enough money to move to California where he worked in a ship yard reparing ships during World War II. He and Freda returned to Iowa after the birth of their son, Ron, and he became a steam fitter and welder with Local 212 out of Burlington. He spent most of his life as a union pipe fitter out of Local 212, spending many years at Hubinger's in Keokuk and the rest of the time traveling with his job. Through the years, he still remained a cowboy at heart.

He was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church and was a former Mason and Shriner. He also was a former member of the Keokuk Emergency Squad, helping with search and rescue on the Mississippi. His family was very special to him and he had enjoyed spending most of the past year at Kahoka in Ron and Jan's home.

Funeral services are Thursday, July 13, 2006 at 10 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with Pastor Terry Lovell officiating. Burial will follow in Sand Cemetery at St. Francisville.

Friends can call at Wilson Funeral Home after 9 a.m. Wednesday with family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to Shriner's Crippled Children's Hospital, St. Louis.
