HUGH L. "SPARKY" WOOD, JR.

Hugh L. "Sparky" Wood, Jr., age 66, of Alexandria, MO, died Sunday, February 22, 2004 at his home

He was born August 19, 1937, near Croton, IA, the son of Hugh L. & Colleen Steele Wood.

He married Betty Ellis on November 4, 1957 in Burlington, IA.

Survivors include: his wife, Betty of Alexandria; mother-in-law, Beatrice Callsen of Keokuk, IA; four sons: Gorden Wood of Alexandria; David Wood of Elmwood, IL; Steven Wood and his wife, Mary,of Kahoka, MO and Kevin Wood and his wife, Debbie, of Green Bay, Wisconsin; two daughters, Nancy Shelton of Kahoka, MO and Gaylene Wood of Alexandria, MO; thirteen grandchildren: Susan and Sarah Wood of Macomb, IL, Zack, Christina and Madison Wood of Kahoka, MO, Eric, Gabe, Matt, and Andy Wood of Greenbay, WI, and, Gorden, Joey, John and Beth Shelton of Kahoka, MO;a sister, Joy Bell Stevenson and her husband, Bill, of Kahoka, MO; an aunt, Joy Blackwell of Keokuk, IA; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: George and Sandra Ellis of Wayland; Ron and Margaret Ellis of Independence, MO, Lurena Knopp of Maryland Heights, MO; Carolyn Smith of Independence, MO; Jackie Charlton of Shelbina, MO; Jody Hughson and husband, Al, of Hannibal, MO; Patricia and Leroy Chaknine of Keokuk, IA, and Grace Glasgow, also of Keokuk, IA;as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Hugh L. "Spike" Wood, III.

"Sparky" was a retired truck driver of Trinity Transportation in Quincy. He enjoyed his grandchildren and visiting with people. He and Betty liked going on short trips throughout the area and seeing local sites.

Funeral services will be Thursday, February 26, at 10:30 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka, MO with Rev. George LeMaster, Jr. officiating.

Burial will be in Kahoka Cemetery.

Friends can call after 1 p.m. on Wednesday with family receiving friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
