Gladstone Hume Cale, 71, of Canton, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at his home.
Hume was born August 7, 1952, to Gladstone Hume Cale and Irene (Mitcham) Cale of Hamilton, Illinois. He graduated from Hamilton High School in 1970 and then attended Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois.
Hume worked for a number of years at the First Miss plant in Fort Madison, Iowa. He then moved to Rock Springs, Wyoming to work at the Chevron Plant as an Operations Manager. Upon retirement, he moved to the Lake of the Oaks near Canton, Missouri.
Hume loved fishing and the Lake of the Oaks community. He also enjoyed Nascar, cooking pies, cross stitch, and stained-glass work.
Hume is survived by his brother, David (Vicki) Cale of Winder, Georgia and his sister, Kathryn (John) Bleuer of Burlington, Iowa. Eight nieces and nephews were privileged to call him Uncle and nineteen great nieces and nephews called him Great Uncle.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his oldest brother Robert Cale, and his nephew Marcus Cale.
A private inurnment service will be held. Hume was a helper to many, and his hearty laugh will be missed.
