IOLA MAE WELLER
Iola Mae Weller, age 91, of Kahoka, MO, died Friday, December 10, 2004 in the Clark Co. Nursing Home in Kahoka.
She was born July 1, 1913 in Clark County, MO, a daughter of William and Emma Mae Stevenson Bergman.
Iola was the mother of Margie Sue. She married Royal E. Weller on September 26, 1953 and with this union came an extended family of Kenneth, Richard and Shirley.
Survivors include her daughter, Margie Sue Ewart and her husband, Dan, of Montgomery, IN; two stepsons, Kenneth K. Weller and his wife, Barbara, of Hamilton, IL, and Richard R. Weller and his wife, Doris, of Hopkinsville, KY; thirteen grandchildren: Dan R. and Jennifer Ewart of Morning Sun, IA, Christeana and Gary Dickey of Wapello, IA, William James Ewart of Montgomery, IN, Sherri Jo Goodman of MN, Douglas Mason of SC, Brenda Padgett and Alan Mason both of Dallas City, IL, Raymond Weller of Clarksville, IN, Karl Weller of Hopkinsville, KY, Edward Weller of Pegram, TN; Lisa and Jerome Casto of Hopkinsvile, KY, Kenny and Candy Weller of OK, and Karmen and Aron Metternich of Hamilton, IL;several great and great-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews: Betty and Chuck Carlson of Hampton, IL, Eldon and Jean Hulen of Muscatine, IA, Roger and Connie McPherson of Muscatine, IA, and Bill and Doreen Bergman, John and Barbie Bergman and Dennis and Sharon Bergman, all of Kahoka, MO; as well other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband on April 8, 1989; an infant son; a step-daughter, Shirley Mason; two sisters, Ada Lee Hulen and Myrtle McPherson; two brothers, George and Floyd Bergman; and three grandchildren, Cathy Ewart Shadle, Curtis William Ewart, and Dale Irvin Mason.
Iola was of the Christian faith and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She loved children and it reflected in the 20 years she was employed by the Clark Co. R-1 School District and also as a foster grandmother in the foster parent program. Following her retirement from Blackhawk Elementary, she worked for several years as a dispatcher for the Clark Co. Sheriff's Department.
Iola enjoyed gardening, lawn work, and caring for her flowers. She was a loving and dedicated mother and grandmother.
Funeral services are Monday, December 13, 2004 at 11 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with Dr. Rick Seaton officiating. Burial will be in Kahoka Cemetery.
Friends can call after noon on Sunday with family receiving friends from 2-4 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the Clark Co. Youth Fund for the Angel Tree Project.
