IONA A. OWEN

Iona A. Owen, age 86, of Kahoka, MO, died Monday, September 19, 2011 at the Clark Co. Nursing Home in Kahoka.

Iona was born August 4, 1925 in the Gregory Landing Area of Clark County, MO, a daughter of Albert E. and Nellie Iona Gatton Hoewing.

Iona married Wynn F."Bud" Owen on July 17, 1948, at the Wayland United Methodist Church. He preceded her in death on August 4, 2005.

Survivors include a son, Dennis Owen of Kahoka, MO; two grandchildren: Jeanie Marie Owen of Kalona, IA and Jamie Lee Owen of Columbia, MO; as well as several nieces and nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; daughter-in-law, Judy Owen; a granddaughter, Angela Owen; grandson, Justin Owen; brother, Col. Ralph C. Hoewing; and sister, Dorothy Hoewing Fox.

Iona graduated from Canton High School. Most of her life was spent as a homemaker and mother. She was a long-time member of the Wayland United Methodist Church and later attended the Kahoka United Methodist Church following their move to Kahoka.

Iona was a member of the Carnation Club and O'Donnell Camp # 9029, Royal Neighbors of America.

She loved spending time at the Senior Center in Kahoka and playing Skip-bo with friends at the R.C.F. She and Wynn had been active in the Kahoka Lions Club. She was a huge fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 22, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with Pastor Shawn McAfee officiating. Burial will follow in the Kahoka Cemetery.

Friends may call at Wilson Funeral Home Thursday after 9 a.m. with family receiving friends from 10 a.m. until time of services.

Memorials are suggested to the Clark Co. Senior Center or the Clark Co. Food Pantry.
