IZEAN E. GARNETT

Izean E. Garnett, age 91, of Kahoka, MO, died Friday, July 25, 2014 in the Clark Co. Nursing Home in Kahoka.

Izean was born November 28, 1922 in Cantril, IA, a daughter of David Benjamin and Clarissa Mae Pickens Hootman.

Izean was married to Wilbur Garnett in 1940 in Palmyra. Following their marriage, they moved to Texas where they ran a movie theater in Richards for two years before returning to Luray where they farmed, ran a dairy herd, and raised their children.

Survivors include two children, Tony J. Garnett of San Diego, CA and Ray Garnett of Hamilton, IL; one sister, Thena Joy Long and her husband, Gerald, of Fort Madison, IA; several nieces and nephews and their families including Lettie Ann (Doug) Twyman of Burlington, IA.

She was preceded in death by her husband and siblings, Anna Bell Wilson, LaHoma Gutting, Ralph David Hootman, Pearl Kelly and Gail Hootman.

Izean attended schools in Clark County and ran a boarding home in Wyaconda. She worked several nursing homes in Kahoka and Keokuk. She loved to crochet and quilt.

Per Izean's request, she has been cremated. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Combs Cemetery in Luray. There will be no visitation.
