James Meginn

February 24, 1962 — March 5, 2020

James Raymond "Pete" Meginn, age 58, of Kahoka, MO, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2020 in Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.

Pete was born February 24, 1962 in Kansas City, KS, the son of Ralph N. and Sharon Bennett Meginn.

Pete attended Washington High School, and was very proud to be from the "Dotte" and a Kansas City Chiefs fan.

Pete spent most of his life in the Kansas City area where he was well known and well liked. His main time was spent as a meat cutter for Duff’s Thriftway in KC and a crystal maker at Thermal Dynamics in Marion, KS. He was also a bouncer and door man at the former Memories in Kansas City and a bouncer at Sandstone in KC. He loved the night life in Kansas City.

He loved his motorcycle and anything Harley. He loved race cars, especially drag racing, and singing with his friend Alan Stoway in his band. He was a talented singer and had an amazing memory when it came to songs and musicians. He loved being outdoors, camping, fishing, and four wheeling. He also loved people and had a great sense of humor that drew people to him.

Number one in his life was his family. He loved them dearly and was very close to them.

He spent as much time with them as physically possible enjoying every minute together.

Survivors include his mother, Sherry Meginn of Kahoka, MO; a sister, Kim (Ed) McAfee of Kahoka, MO; one son, Jeremy Meginn of Kansas City, KS; a niece and nephew and their families: Heather (Eric) Fox of Kansas City, KS, and Jacob (Taylor) McAfee of Kahoka, MO, and Lexan Fox, Jaxen and Sam McAfee. Survivors also include aunts and uncles: Ellis Till, Jr. of Kahoka, MO, Joe (Mindi) Bennett of Arizona and Cindy (Don) Malmberg of Kansas City, KS; as well as cousins and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his father.

There will be no services at this time, however, the family will host a memorial and gathering for friends and family at a later date in Kansas City.

Arrangements were handled by Wilson Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or Northeast Missouri Hospice.
