JEAN L. BRUNK

Jean Louise Brunk, age 74, of Kahoka, MO, died peacefully Wednesday, February 13, 2008, at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born April 7, 1933 at New London, IA, a daughter of George P. and Verona Dotson Walker.

She married Arnold D. Brunk on July 12, 1950 at Concord, CA.

Survivors include her husband, Arnold, of Kahoka; two sons, Jeff Brunk and his wife, Reva, of Revere, MO, and Dr. Shawn Brunk and his wife, Carey, of St. Charles, MO; two daughters, Connie Gutting and her husband, Mike, of Kahoka, MO, and Kathy Smith and her husband, Steve, of Kahoka, MO; a sister, Vera Jakie Virden of Kahoka, MO; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Jerry and Irene Brunk of Kahoka, MO, Larry and Sandy Brunk of Burlington, IA, Rosemary and Jim Moore of Clinton, MO, Steve and Beverly Brunk of Danville, IA and Lucille Brunk of Kahoka; special aunts, Geneva Gilmore of Cedar Rapids, IA and Marjorie Kimble of Morning Sun, IA; fifteen grandchildren: Tiffany and Chad Schorr of Oxford, IN, Valerie and Doug Brown, of Kahoka, MO, Jesse Brunk of Columbia, MO, Jared Brunk of Philadelphia, PA; Jeremiah Brunk serving in Iraq, and his wife, Ashley, of Columbia, MO, Olivia Brunk and Jason Steele of Kahoka, MO, Tara and Scott Schulte of Cleveland, OH, Matt and Erin Gutting of Kahoka, MO, Krystol Gutting and her fiancé, Greg Lottes, of St. Louis, MO,

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Kyle Dean Brunk in infancy; and a sister, Mazie Belles.

Jean graduated from Burlington High School. She was a homemaker most of her married life until 1991 when she and Arnold started "Ma and Pa Kettle Korn" and began selling kettle corn, traveling the United States to various fairs and events. She and Arnold worked hard at building a successful business and name that is well-known throughout the country. She had a strong work ethic and passed it on to her children. She loved anything to do with the outdoors including cleaning out fields when they were clearing more land. She loved mushroom hunting, picking up walnuts, fishing, going on picnics and eating chocolate. She was also a game player, and loved playing games from cards to casinos. Every grandchild learned to play cards when they were with grandma. Jean also loved to quilt, prepare for holidays, and spend time with her family. She was a faithful member of the Peaksville Christian Church.

Funeral services were held Saturday, February 16, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at Peaksville Christian Church with Pastor Shawn McAfee officiating. Burial was in the Revere Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Peaksville Christian Church.
