JERRY D. LILLARD

Jerry David Lillard, age 79, of Kahoka, MO, died peacefully on Sunday, June 12, 2005 at his home.

He was born October 20, 1925 near Williamstown, in Clark County, Missouri, a son of

Evard David and Esther Wolfmeyer Lillard.

He and Mary Malinda Walker were united in marriage April 27, 1947 in rural Luray, MO.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Malinda Lillard, of Kahoka, MO; three daughters,Constance Simmons and her husband, Robert, of Mt. Sterling, IA, Margaret Lillard of Iowa City, IA, and Phyllis Lillard of Kansas City, MO; three grandchildren, Katherine Griffin and her husband, Dr. Shawn Griffin, of St. Josephy, MO, Jerry Simmons and his wife, Tami, of Donnellson, IA, and Joseph Simmons and his wife, Jill, of Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska; eleven great grandchildren: Justin, Aaron, Daniel, Jacob, and Jonathan Griffin; Matthew, James, Luke, and Abigail Simmons; and, Bryce and Taylor Simmons; a brother, David Lillard and his wife, Janet, of Sedalia, MO; three sisters, Marjorie Redenius of Rushville, IL, Emma Lou Bevans of Kahoka, MO, and Esther Ann Fishback and her husband, Earl Wayne, of Dawson, IL; a sister-in-law, Oneida Bourgeois and her husband, Wayne, of Kahoka, MO; as well as nieces,

nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Donald Lillard; two brothers-in-law, J. W. Bevans and Irvin Redenius; and a grandson, James Robert Simmons.

Jerry graduated from the Williamstown High School class of 1943. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II from October 14, 1944 to November 26, 1946 and was a member of Herman Blum Post # 192 of the American Legion.

He had worked for the former R. J. Hurley Lumber Co. from 1953 to 1965 and from 1965 to 1988 was employed by the former IGA and C & R Market.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Kahoka and deacon for over 40 years. He taught Sunday School for many years and especially enjoyed teaching the children. He loved people and was always teasing and telling jokes. Kids always looked forward to his "linty" jellybeans and starlight mints which he kept in his pockets. He loved farming, woodworking and craft working, and loved making toys for his great grandchildren. Although he dearly loved and cherished his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren, his main love was for his Lord Jesus Christ.

Funeral services are Wednesday, June 15, 2005 at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Kahoka with Revs. Rick Seaton and Gary Payne officiating. Burial will be in Providence Cemetery near Williamstown.

Friends can call after 11 a.m. Tuesday at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with family receiving friends 6-8 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church of Kahoka or the Clark Co. Senior Center.

Arrangements are being handled by Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka.
