John Pennock, 73, of Revere, Mo., passed away at 9:50pm on Monday, June 10, 2024, at the Great River Medical Clinic in Burlington, Iowa.
John was born in Wellington, Kansas, on August 25, 1950, to John T. and Bonnie B. (Shepherd) Pennock. John and his parents moved frequently over the years, causing him to attend numerous schools and eventually graduating from Central Lee High School. There, he thrived in track and field, holding a school record for several years. However, his sports career was abruptly cut short during his senior year due to a football injury that hospitalized him for several months.
After high school he began his working career at The Daily Gate City as an Apprentice Printer followed by a variety of other jobs, ending his employment career at Sutton Motors in Macon, Missouri. John married Rebecca Anderson, with whom he had three children. Although they later divorced, John found lasting companionship with Deb Harrison, who remained devoted to him for 40 years, standing by him through all of life's moments. John took great pleasure in feeding the birds, visiting various lakes, rivers, parks, and relished the tranquility of fishing with a cold drink in hand. He also enjoyed attending the Clark County Fair especially the horse races, with Deb and the Harrison family. Later in life he became an avid reader and cherished his solitude.
He is survived by his devoted companion Debra Harrison, 1 son: Josh Pennock of Burlington, IA., 2 daughters: Heather (Tracy) Madsen of Donnellson, IA., Chelsea (Josh) Stevens of Burlington, IA., 2 brothers: Chris Jarvis of Iowa City, IA., Mike (Lori) Jarvis of Franklin, IA., 6 grandchildren: Ethan, Jayden, Gavin, Henry, Nicholas, Harrison and other relatives and friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents: John and Bonnie Pennock, his stepdad: James Jarvis, 3 brothers: Jeff Jarvis, Chuck Jarvis, and Scott Jarvis.
Memorials in memory of John Pennock are suggested to the Clark County Fair Horse Racing or to Athens Park. There will be no visitation or service. Condolences may be left for the family at www.wilsontriplett.com
