JOYCE K. McCOLM

Joyce K. McColm, age 68, of Medill, MO, died unexpectedly on Monday, February 4, 2013 at her home.

Joyce was born January 22, 1945 at Kirksville, MO, a daughter of Steve and Irene Jones Butler.

She married Larry L. McColm on January 28, 1963 at his parent's farm in Granger.
Larry preceded her in death on December 13, 2007.

Survivors include a son, Michael McColm and his fiancé, Janice Massey, of Medill, MO; a daughter, Pamela (Mrs. Douglas) Britton of Medill, MO; three grandchildren: Tiffiny Toops (Chris Shaffer) of Kahoka, MO, Steven Toops (Shelly Drummond) of Donnellson, IA, and Kelsey Britton of Medill, MO; a sister, Delphene Yates of Kahoka, MO; two brothers, Norman Butler of Kahoka, MO and Roger Carroll (Jeanette) Butler of Keokuk, IA; as well as nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two brothers, Bobby Lee Butler and John Butler.

Joyce was a former employee of Drydens and later cleaned homes, business offices and banks in Kahoka. She was a member of the Luray Baptist Church and former singer and member of Shelton's Gospel Band, entertaining in many nursing homes and events in the area.

Joyce loved growing flowers, gardening, watching birds, and cooking. She had several collections started by friends and family. She loved being with family and attending special events, birthdays and holidays with her immediate and extended family.

Funeral services were held Friday, February 8, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with Pastor Ray Gilbert officiating. Burial was in the Combs Cemetery at Luray, MO.


Memorials were suggested to the family.
