JUANITA E. DAY
Lelia Juanita E. Day, age 84, formerly of Cantril, IA and Memphis, MO, died Sunday, February 19, 2012 at the Donnellson Care Center in Donnellson, IA.
Juanita was born April 11, 1927 at Alexandria, MO, a daughter of Oma and Evalenah Marie Mayer White.
She married Donald W. Day on October 29, 1950 at the Kahoka Christian Church with Rev. Golden officiating. They had celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary this past October.
Survivors include her husband, Donald W. Day, of West Point, IA; two son, Mark Day and his wife, Donna, of Donnellson, IA, and Michael Day and his wife, Martha, of Pensacola, FL; a daughter, Pamela Huppert and her husband, Pat, of Fort Madison, IA; six grandchildren: Corey (Belinda) Day of Warrensburg, MO, Jesse (Lexie) Day of Donnellson, IA, Jeremiah (Kate) Day of Pensacola, FL, Shane (Jessica) Day of Seattle, WA, Gregory Hathaway of Fort Madison, IA and Peter Huppert of Keokuk, IA; two step grandsons: Jason Huppert and Billy (Dana) Huppert both of Fort Madison, IA; eleven great-grandchildren; a brother, Dail White and his wife, Doris, of Memphis, MO; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Leona Oliver of Dallas, OR, Rodney (Doris) Day of Gorin, MO, Earl (Carol) Day of Hamilton, IL, Bert Day and companion, Peggy, of Branson, MO, Richard Day and companion, Karen, of Salem, OR, and Corrine Day of Ankeny, IA; as well as nieces and nephews and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Harold Dean White; two sisters and their husbands, Naoma and Harold Brammer and Elaine and Norman Brammer; one grandchild, Travis Hathaway; and step-grandchild, Brian Huppert.
Juanita was a 1945 graduate of LaTour High School. Some of her earlier employments included Shellor Globe and Shaeffer Pen. She had been a clerk at J.C. Penneys when it was on Main Street in Keokuk, and later at Gambles in Fort Madison and Donnellson. In later years she and Don cared for her daughter, Pam, and also helped raise her son, Peter, together with Pam's husband, Pat.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 22, 2012, at 10 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with Rev. Robert Moseley officiating. Burial was in the Ashton Cemetery.
Memorials were suggested to Lee Co. Hospice or Alzheimers Association.
