Judith K. Douglas, 81, of Kahoka, Missouri, passed away at 12:40 am on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at the Kirksville Medical Center in Kirksville, MO.
Judith was born on February 21, 1943, in Macomb, IL, to Van and Esta (Brown) Hoffman. 1 of 6 children, she and her twin brother, Kenny, grew up in Iowa and graduated from Stockport High School where Judith was a standout basketball player. Judith maintained her enjoyment of Iowa girls’ basketball, particularly 6 on 6, and she absolutely loved attending all her grandchildren’s sporting events.
Judith married Marvin Douglas on December 20th, 1989, in Ft. Madison, IA, and they remained happily married until his death in 2019.
Judith spent her later years at the Clark County Nursing Home, in Kahoka. While there, she was often found enjoying her puzzles and word searches. Christmas was Judith’s favorite time of the year and those who knew and loved her will always fondly remember her enjoyment and generosity during the holidays.
Judith is survived by her sons; Brian (Dena) Ferrel, of Kahoka, MO, Scott Ferrel, of Spokane, WA, and Curtis (Marlena) Mack, also of Kahoka; grandchildren, Eric (Lacey) Ferrel, of Ft. Madison, IA, Brad Ferrel of Keokuk, IA, Troy Ferrel of Hamilton, IL, Seth and Corey McElhoe, of Montrose, IA, Noah Ferrel of Kahoka, MO, Maddie Rose Ferrel of Kahoka, MO, Anthony Markey of Farmington, IA, Brandon, and Joshua Ferrel of Spokane, WA, Nicholas (Chantell) Ferrel of Angels, WA, and Camron and Conner Mack, of Kahoka, MO; 9 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Gloria Miles of Pella, IA, and Karen (Neil) Vineyard, of Little Rock, AR; several surviving in-laws, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many other family members and friends.
Judith was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin, and her parents, as well as her brothers Richard, Kenny, and Danny Hoffman.
There will be a graveside service for Judith at 11:00am on Tuesday, July 30th, 2024, at the Kahoka Cemetery where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved Marvin. Pastor Kim McNamar will officiate.
Memorial donations in Judith’s name may be made to “Helping Hands” in Kahoka.
