JUNE M. BENTZINGER HARDY
June Mary Lena Bentzinger Hardy, age 87, of Revere, MO, passed away on Monday,September 5, 2005 in the Clark Co. Nursing Home in Kahoka.
She was born June 7, 1918 in Charleston, IA, a daughter of Arthur H. and Clara W. Hotop Bentzinger.
On October 15, 1950, she was united in marriage to Lynne S. Hardy in Donnellson, IA.
He preceded her in death on December 21, 1985.
Survivors include a daughter, Jeri L. Braxton and her husband, Charles E. Braxton, of Kahoka, MO; a step-grandson, Beau Braxton of Reston, VA; a sister-in-law, Theresa Bentzinger of Goodland, KS; nieces and nephews: Dennis Bentzinger of Goodland, KS, Dyann Durbin of Springfield, MO, Debbie Shean of New Castle, IN, and Dana Bentzinger of Springfield, MO; several great nieces and nephews; cousins; and, other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a brother, Clester A. Bentzinger.
June was a 1935 graduate of Donnellson High School and attended business college in Fort Madison. She worked the next 17 years as secretary to the president of the former Sheaffer Pen in Fort Madison. Early in their marriage she and Lynne sought employment during the winter months in Arizona and during that time she was secretary for the Baltimore Orioles at their winter camp in Yuma. She worked in the Clark County Clerk's Office for many years and also worked for Craig Hiller, attorney and abstractor. In 1967, she became a partner in the Clark Co. Abstract Co. and continued to work there with her daughter, Jeri, until suffering a stroke two weeks ago.
She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Kahoka and Kahoka Chapter # 40, O.E.S. at Wayland. She supported the Revere Community Center and enjoyed the social events and monthly coffees with friends.
Funeral services are Thursday, September 8, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Kahoka with Rev. Kenneth Beckmann and Rev. Richard Bentzinger officiating.
Burial will follow in the Revere Cemetery.
Friends can call at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka after 9 a.m. on Wednesday with family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the Revere Community Center or the St. Paul Church Elevator Fund.
