KATHLEEN H. SMITH

Kathleen H. Smith, the only daughter of Isaac Martin and Lillie May Hayden Horn,was born August 18, 1913, in Memphis, MO and departed this life on Friday, June 9, 2006 at the Clark Co. Nursing Home in Kahoka.

After completing her elementary and two years of high school in Memphis, she moved to Gorin, MO where her father was superintendent of Gorin Public Schools, graduating from Gorin High School in 1931. She attended Northeast Missouri State, where in 1933 she earned her lifetime teaching certificate and where she held senior ranking.

For several years she taught in rural schools in Scotland County. She also taught in Bible Grove, Memphis, and Wyaconda.

On November 26, 1937, she was united in marriage to LeRoy Smith, and to this union two children were born.

They lived on a farm northwest of Wyaconda for a few years and in 1946 they went into partnership with LeRoy's brother and his wife. They purchased the Lundenberg Poultry Company. It was then called Smith Brothers Produce and Feed. She worked in the office for several years.

At an early age she joined the First Presbyterian Church in Memphis, later transferring her membership to the First United Methodist Church of Wyaconda, where she was a faithfulmember. She was a 60-year member of Williamstown Order of the Eastern Star, where she held various offices. While her children were in school, she was active in PTO and 4-H plus other activities and was a 4-H project leader for several years. She was an avid basketball and base-

ball fan and seldom missed a game at home or away.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy, in 1986; her parents; one brother, Winston, and one great granddaughter.

Surviving are her son, Rodney, and his wife, Phyllis, of Wyaconda, MO; her daughter, Jean Funck, and her husband, Howard, of St. Charles, MO; five grandchildren, Julie, Greta,

Scott, Stacy, and Leslie Kathleen; seven great grandchildren; also a niece, nephews, cousins, and

many friends.

She was a loving and loyal wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and will be sadly missed by all.

Funeral services are Tuesday, June 13, 2006 at 10 a.m. at the Wyaconda United Methodist with Pastor Don Sherwood officiating. Burial will follow in Wyaconda Cemetery.

Friends can call at Wilson Funeral Home after noon on Monday with family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the Wyaconda United Methodist Church or the Wyaconda Cemetery.
